RIP: Phil Taylor

It is a sad day in the world of heavy metal as it was announced that Motorhead drummer, Phil Taylor, known to his fans as the “Philthy Animal” passed away today at the age of 61.  Taylor was an original member of the group and played on all their signature hits, including Ace of Spades, and ten of their albums.  He was with the band from 1975 to 1984 and 1987 to 1992, last leaving the band (fired, actually) during recording sessions for the March or Die album. While he was not with the band for over twenty years, he…
It is always onward and upward for us at Notinhalloffame.com, and as such we wanted to take the time to update our Football Futures section.  This is the portion of the website where you have the opportunity to let us know your opinion as whether retired players who are not yet eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame should be enshrined in Canton.  This process also helps us establish where these players should be ranked once eligible. We already had the Football Futures from 2016, 2017 and 2018 up, and recently we have updated our 2017 Football Futures and…
While the Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot for this year was already known, it is worth noting that the names on the ballot have been made official and have been sent out to prospective voters. Let’s go through the ballot and take a quick look shall we?
Yesterday, the Hockey Hall of Fame officially inducted the Class of 2015 and it was certainly an international affair as players from four countries entered the hallowed hall of Toronto.  This is the second consecutive year that this has occurred, and follows induction cases of 2011 and 2012 that had players from three different countries enter. Representing Sweden, this year’s headliner is Swedish born Defenceman, Niklas Lidstrom, the seven time Norris Trophy winner who anchored the Detroit Red Wings to four Stanley Cups.  Lidstrom is undeniably the top Defenceman of the 2000’s and also holds a Conn Smythe Trophy in…
After an 18 year career in Major League Baseball, Aramis Ramirez, a third baseman who last played with the Pittsburgh Pirates officially announced his retirement on a radio station in his native Dominican Republic.  This was not a surprise as in spring training this year (then playing for the Milwaukee Brewers) Ramirez said that this would be his final season as a player.    Ramirez leaves the game with some impressive accolades.  He was a three time All Star, a one time Silver Slugger and would finish in the top ten in MVP voting three times.  Statistically, he leaves the game…

The Toy Hall of Fame has announced the latest class, and as always nostalgia reigns supreme when you think of the latest entrants. Twister, the puppet and the super soaker comprise the Class of 2015 beating out other finalists such as the spinning top, Wiffle Ball, Playmobil, American Girl Dolls, Jenga, Battleship, the scooter, the coloring book and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Historians and curators from the Strong Museum in Rochester, New York, which houses the Toy Hall of Fame, choose all of the finalists.  This class brings the total of inductees to 56. While we aren’t looking to do…
Our long and arduous work in progress of ranking the top fifty players for every North American sports team is underway, but after that is completed we will then take a look how each franchise honors their own in terms of respective franchise halls of fame, ring of honors, retired numbers and statues. As such it is news to us that last weekend the Dallas Cowboys added Darren Woodson to their prestigious Ring of Honor at halftime of their home game against Seattle. Woodson was drafted out of Arizona State in the second round in 1992 and would spend thirteen…

RIP: Mel Daniels

A sad day has happened for basketball fans and more specifically that of the Indiana Pacers as it was announced that 2012 Hall of Fame inductee, Mel Daniels passed away at the age of 71.  It is not known at this time how he died, but he did have heart surgery recently. Daniels starred collegiately for the New Mexico Lobos and was drafted ninth overall in 1967 by the Cincinnati Royals but opted to go to the Minnesota Muskies in the upstart American Basketball Association, where he was also drafted.  Daniels was the ABA Rookie of the Year, but business…
