1949 Hockey Inductees

The 1949 Hockey Hall of Fame class was not a very large; actually it was only two players. Still, the addition of Art Ross and Dan Bain were two very good additions to the Hall, though we wonder why they would sandwich such a small group among larger ones.
It is very possible that Art Ross may have done enough to enter the Hockey Hall of Fame just for his on ice endeavors, or even enough on his off ice ones. Seriously, he was that important to the game.
Considered one of the best all-around Canadian athletes in the turn of the century, Dan Bain excelled at everything he touched. Consider that he won the following:   The Manitoba Roller Skating Championship at age 13The Manitoba Gymnastics Competition at age 17.Three Manitoba Cycling Championships.Canadian Trapshooting Champion in 1903
