Not in Hall of Fame News

RIP: Yogi Berra

It is a sad day for Baseball, the New York Yankees and the witticisms as Yogi Berra passed away at the age of 90 due to natural causes.  The Hall of Fame Catcher and three time American League MVP was one of the best hitting Catchers of all time and holds the distinction of playing in more World Series Games than anyone else.  Berra would win ten World Series rings as a player and three as a coach and would retire as a player with 358 Home Runs and 1,430 Runs Batted In. The popular Catcher would become known not…

The finalists for the second full class for the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame have been announced.  Like the first full year, voting on the candidates are open to the public and began with an initial round of Preliminary Nominees and then was pared down to Semi-Finalists. Does this Hall of Fame really matter? It seems like every time we mention that the TNA wrestling promotion inducts a new member to their Hall of Fame, we openly have to ask just how much longer the promotion will last.  With their current deal on Destination America coming to an end, we ask that question even louder as they announced that referee, Earl Hebner will be their latest inductee to their Hall. Hebner joined TNA in 2006 after he and his brother Dave were let go by the WWE following selling WWE merchandise without the organization’s permission.  In TNA,…
Today, Simon Gagne announced his retirement from the National Hockey League and the world of professional hockey. In a press release, the now former Boston Bruin Left Winger had this to say: "Today, I want to thank my trainers and teammates.  You inspired me to surpass myself.  You made me understand that you need more than talent; it takes sacrifice and discipline and you need to work harder than your rivals.  I also wish to thank my fans.  Every evening, you energized me and inspired me to perform." Over his fourteen year career, Gagne was a two time All Star…

RIP: Moses Malone

On the heels of the Basketball Hall of Fame induction, one of the standouts of the Springfield based institution has been taken as Moses Malone was found dead in his hotel room in Norfolk, VA.  He was 60 years old. Malone began his pro career right out of high school with the ABA’s Utah Stars and was immediately an All Star.  He would join the Buffalo Braves following the ABA/NBA merger and would become a perennial All Star, namely with the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers, the latter he took to a Championship in 1983. The well decorated Center would…
We kind of knew this already as many of you have seen that we have ranked Allen Iverson at the top of our revised rankings for the Notinhalloffame.com Basketball list.  During this past Basketball Hall of Fame weekend, the institution made his eligibility official, a fact that was not made clear to many. There were two sticking points that cluttered the opinion as to when his eligibility was.
