Not in Hall of Fame News

Yes, we know that this is taking a while! As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity.  As such, we are very happy to present our post 2022/23 revision of our top 50 Anaheim Ducks. As for all of our top 50 players in hockey we look at the following: 1.  Advanced Statistics. 2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the…
The Baseball Hall of Fame just announced that Boston Red Sox announcer, Joe Castiglione won the Ford C. Frick Award, meaning that he is now a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Beginning his sports broadcasting career in Cleveland in 1978, where he called games for the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers, but would depart for Boston in 1983, and would become their lead announcer in 1992.  He broadcast multiple World Series Titles in Boston, and for the local fans, became the voice of their renaissance.     We here at Notinhllloffame.com would like to congratulate Joe Castiglione for his…
If you are a regular visitor at Notinhalloffame.com, you know that we created the Notinhalloffame NBA Cup, where in every regular season game, we award points (5-4-3-2-1) to the top five performers.  This is the fourth year that we have done this, and Denver’s Nikola Jokic winning the first two, and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers winning last year. To keep everyone regularly in the loop this time, we have decided to give regular updates, starting at Thanksgiving.  We will this going forward with every update as the first player breaches the elevated ten-point threshold afterward. Here is the…
The Hall of Fame season continues with the Baseball Hall’s announcement that Jim Leyland has been named to the Hall via the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee for Managers/Executives/Umpires.   The former Manager received 15 of 16 voted for the ballot, making him the only person selected from this group. Leyland is a three-time Manager of the Year (1990, 1992 & 2006), and led the Florida Marlins to their improbable 1997 World Series title.  With a career record of 1,769-1,728 and helmed the United States to victory in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Missing out was Lou Piniella who received 11 votes…

1952 Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project Class. Here we are!  Again!! If you have been following our Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project, you know that we have asked the rhetorical question…what if the PFHOF began in January of 1946? After soliciting and obtaining a passionate group of football fans and historians, we sent out a ballot for a Preliminary Vote, which we asked each voter to give us 25 names as their semi-finalists, and 5 in the Senior Pool. Following that, we asked the group to vote for their 15 Finalists in the Modern Era, and…
It does not happen often, but we have a significant retirement in the middle of an NFL Season, as Wide Receiver, DeSean Jackson, has called it a career. Jackson will retire as a Philadelphia Eagle, and serve as their honorary captain this Sunday, played eight of his 15 NFL seasons in Philadelphia, the same team that he went to his three Pro Bowls. Known as one of Football’s great game-breakers, Jackson holds the record for Touchdowns of 60 Yards or more (26) and is tied for the record of TDs of 80 Yards or more (5).  He also played for…
Halls of Fames struggle with transparency, but the Baseball Hall does a very good job telling you who are the voters and what the results were. We now know the 16-person group who comprise the Contemporary Committee.  The voters will comprise of five Hall of Fame players (Jeff Bagwell, Tom Glavine, Chipper Jones, Ted Simmons and Jim Thome), Hall of Fame Manager, Joe Torre, and Hall of Fame Commissioner Bud Selig.  Also included are Executives Sandy Alderson, Bill DeWitt, Michael Hill, Ken Kendrick, Andy MacPhail and Phyliss Merhige and media members/historians, Sean Forman, Jack O’Connell and Jesus Ortiz. The group…
As we are deep into the Baseball Hall of Fame season, one of the inductees is hopeful to get the logo on his plaque changed from the Montreal Expos to the Chicago Cubs. Andre Dawson, who was inducted into the Hall in 2010, was enshrined with the Expos cap, but stated all along that he wanted to go in as a Cub.  He is still hopeful of changing it to the iconic Cubs “C”, as reported by the Chicago Tribune, and he has sent letters to the chairman of the Hall of Fame Board of Directors in another effort.  Dawson…
The last two weeks of November have always been special for Hall of Fame watchers.  The Baseball Hall of Fame puts forth their official ballot for the modern candidates, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame reduces their preliminary candidates to 25 Semi-Finalists. For the first time (at least that we are aware of) the PFHOF made their declaration in the AM, and we have two former players, who are debuting on their first year of eligibility. Here are the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Semi-Finalists in alphabetical order: Eric Allen: Cornerback.  1988-94 PHI, 1995-97 NO, 1998-2001 OAK. Allen is now…
