The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced three new members to their institution with Malcom Floyd, Mike Iupati and Tom Kaulukukui. Floyd, who is part Samoan, was a two-time All-Mountain West at Wyoming.  Professionally, he played 11 years with San Diego, accumulating 321 Receptions for 5,550 Yards and 34 Touchdowns. Iupati, who liked Floyd had Samoan Ancestry, was an All-American Guard at Idaho, and went on to play 11 years in the NFL with San Francisco, Arizona and Seattle.  He went to four consecutive Pro Bowls (2012-15). Regular visitors of Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB.  Once that is done, we intend to look at how each team honor their past players, coaches and executives.  As such, it is news to us that the Seattle Mariners have announced that former Outfielder, Ichiro Suzuki, will be inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame on August 27 before their home against Cleveland. RIP: Sam Huff

One of the game’s greatest and earliest Middle Linebackers has left us. It was announced today that Sam Huff died at the age of 87, eight years after he was diagnosed with dementia. An All-American at the University of West Virginia, Huff was a Third Round Pick in 1956, selected by the New York Giants, but he quickly grew frustrated by how he was used, or rather wasn’t.  Giants Assistant Coach, and defensive whiz, Vince Lombardi, recognized how to use Huff, and he became one of the game’s early Middle Linebackers as the cornerstone of the 4-3 Defense, a new scheme…
The ECHL has announced the four new members of their Hall of Fame, who make up the 14th official class.  This group consists of Ray Harris, Brett Marietti, Joel Martin and Tim Nowak. Ray Harris bought the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2002, where he has served as not only the team owner but President and CFO.  Under his tenure, the Cyclones have won two Kelly Cups, won four divisions, and has increased attendance. Brett Maretti played ten years in the ECHL, namely 550 Games with the South Carolina Stingrays (1994-2003).  He led the Stingrays to Kelly Cup wins in 1997 and 2001, and had 481 Points in…

As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  We have a new one to unveil today, that of the Nashville Predators.  The Predators made their debut in 1998, bringing hockey to the Volunteer State. Added to the 2022 Hockey Section are: Brandon Dubinsky, who played at Center for Columbus and the New York Rangers.  He represented the United States internationally. Dion Phaneuf, best known for his time in Calgary, and was a former First Team All-Star Defenseman. Jason Pominville, who played most of his career with the Sabres and was an All-Star in 2012. The Early Baseball Era nominees are: Bill Dahlen, SS, 3B.  Chicago (NL 1891-1898), Brooklyn (NL 1899-1903) & New York (NL 1904-1911).  “Bad” Bill Dahlen is a sabrementric darling with a bWAR over 75, and 2,461 career Hits with 1,234 RBIs and 1,590 Runs. We have said this often: We love the Toy Hall of Fame! The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester New York has announced that the American Girl Doll, Risk and Sand are the newest inductees to the Toy Hall of Fame.  The other nine finalists were Battleship, Billiards, Cabbage Patch Kids, Fischer-Price Corn Popper, Mahjong, Masters of the Universe, the pinata, The Settlers of Catan, and the Toy Fire Engine. The Class of 2021 brings Toy Hall of Fame membership to 77.
This was a little surprising. One of the top Catchers of the last decade, Buster Posey, is expected to announce his retirement tomorrow. A former fifth overall pick, Posey debited in 2009 and was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2010 and helped lead the Giants to a World Series win.  Two years later, he won the MVP, and again took San Francisco to a World Series title.  A seven-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger, Posey won a third World Series ring in 2014.
