Not in Hall of Fame News

Perhaps it did not get the attention it should have but former New York Giant and two-time Super Bowl Champion, Osi Umenyiora retired this week. Umenyiora, a former second round draft choice out of Troy, would shine the brightest when the pressure was on and Umenyiora would make two Pro Bowl Teams along with a pair of All Pro Selections.  The Linebacker would record 85 Quarterback Sacks, including three seasons where he recorded two digit Sack campaigns. The Nigerian born player was a major force in the G-Men’s last Super Bowl win and while he is unlikely to be honored…
The Hockey Hall of Fame works a little faster than other North American sports hall doesn’t it? With only a three year waiting period after retirement from the game (playing in Europe still counts as being active), we have decided some time ago that active players over the age of thirty-five would be profiled and made available for your vote. Rather than only mention the new entries, we are listing all of the “TBD” players who are currently in that section. The players listed are as follows: Alex Tanguay, a member of the 2001 Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche and…
The Phoenix Suns announced that Steve Nash will become the 14th man to enter their Ring of Honor.  That will take place at halftime of this season’s home game with the Portland Trail Blazers on October 30th. The Canadian raised Point Guard had his best seasons with Phoenix where he would become a two time MVP winner and earned six of his eight All Star Appearances.  He is currently the franchise’s leader in Assists, Three Pointers and Free Throw Percentage and as a Sun he had an average of 14.5 Points and 9.4 Assist per Game along with a PER…
Over the past weekend, The New York Yankees officially gave former battery mates, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte the highest accolade they can give, as their numbers were officially retired by the organization. Posada had his number #20 retired on Saturday by the only MLB organization he ever played for.  Posada was a member of four World Series Championship teams, was a five time All Star and five time Silver Slugger Award winner.  Pettitte’s ceremony took place on Sunday.  As a Yankee, #46 won five World Series Rings won 219 Games and another 18 in the post-season.  He also has…
As always, it is onward and upward for us at Notinhalloffame.com. It was not that long ago that we revamped our Basketball section and named Allen Iverson as our new number one player who should be considered for the Basketball Hall of Fame.  Following this, we endeavored to work on our futures section and update them accordingly. As such, we are pleased to present to you the men who are now part of our updated Basketball Futures Section who will be eligible in 2021.  Andrei Kirilenko, a Russian who once led the NBA in Blocks.  Kenyon Martin, an All Star…
Only a couple of weeks ago, the Football Hall of Fame officially inducted last year’s Senior Nominee, Mick Tingelhoff.  This year, the Hall returns to two Senior Nominees, and while we are upset that former Green Bay Packer, Jerry Kramer is not one of them, we can’t say that we have a lot of issues with the two they did select. Former Oakland Raiders Quarterback, Ken Stabler, who died earlier this year has been named as a Senior Finalist.  “The Snake” had been a popular choice for many in terms of long time omissions for the Hall, and was himself…
It has been speculated for some time that Daniel Briere would be retiring this off season.  That has apparently come to fruition as the 37 year old forward has announced that he is officially retiring from the game from hockey.  An undersized Centre, Briere would break in to league with the Phoenix Coyotes, but it was his season with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2006-07 season where he really turned heads, finishing with 95 Points and securing his first All Star Game appearance.  Statistically, that would be his best season, but it would be with his next team, the Philadelphia…
We have watched year after year the plight of Edgar Martinez, the former Seattle Mariners Designated Hitter who has not gotten enough support for the Baseball Hall of Fame.  When asked about by the Boston Herald fellow DH, and Boston Red Sox superstar, David Ortiz, Martinez is emphatic about what he thinks of Ortiz in the Hall: “No doubt.  Ortiz definitely is a Hall of Famer.” Martinez may have had an emphatic opinion on it, but will that matter?  Many as the greatest DH of all time regard him, but that same designation is what many believe has kept him…

We here at Notinhalloffame.com have been very open about our admiration for the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame, which has not been in existence for long.  In a brief amount of time, the Cardinals have embraced their history and have made their HOF an envy of most of the Baseball teams in MLB. As such it is with great delight that we speak of the Redbirds official inauguration of their latest Hall of Fame Class. In our eyes, the headliner of this year’s class is Catcher, Ted Simmons, who spent thirteen years with them and made six All Star…
