It is another big day for us at Notinhalloffame.com! Following the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s announcement of their Finalists, our Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is announcing its Finalists for the 2019 Class. This will be the fifth full class. Like in previous years, the opening round began with over 500 Fictional Musicians which was reduced to 40 Fictional Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Semi-Finalists.  The top 15 vote getters advanced to the Final Round. One of the core lists for us on Notinhalloffame.com is our Football section, which ranked over 100 former players who are worthy of Pro Football Hall of Fame consideration.  In honor of the NFL’s 100thAnniversary, and announcement that there will be a special committee that will add fifteen senior candidates, we have decreed that our section needed an update. In an interview today with the NFL Network, former Jacksonville Jaguars Running Back, Fred Taylor, decreed that he belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  He specifically had this to say: “Obviously I think I belong.  It’s not in my hands. I think the voters, after doing a deep dive, they’ll understand that I belong there too. I really believe I had a solid career, and hopefully the writers will understand that one day.” Taylor, who has been eligible for Canton since 2016, has yet to make the Semi-Finalist cut.  He likely never will. The Toy Hall of Fame has announced that Magic the Gathering, Matchbox Cars and the Coloring Book comprise their Class of 2019. Housed at the Strong Museum in Rochester, New York, these toys were chosen and pared down from 12 Finalists.   The other finalists were Care Bears, the Fisher-Price Corn Popper, Jenga, Mattel’s Masters of the Universe, action figures, My Little Pony, the Nerf Blaster, Risk, the Smartphone and the Top. Since 1998, 71 toys have been chosen for the Hall.  This is always a fun Hall of Fame, and we look forward to how they expand next year.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame announced the Finalists for the Class of 2020.  It comprises of 24 candidates from a very diverse musical spectrum. The Performing Nominees are: Mariah Carey:  Carey was nominated last year and co-wrote 17 of her 18 number one songs. Gloria Estefan:  Estefan wrote or co-wrote most of her hit songs and she helped pen Shakira’s hit, “Wherever, Whenever.” The Eurythmics (Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox):  The Eurythmics had many hits, which included the number one smash, “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). When the Baseball season ends, the Baseball Hall of Fame season begins. Today, the Baseball Hall of Fame has announced the 10 Finalists for the Modern Baseball Era, which is one of four Era Committees.  The Modern Era focuses on the era between 1970 and 1987. The ten candidates are Dwight Evans:  Evans was a twenty-year veteran of the Majors, 19 of which were with the Boston Red Sox.  An eight-time Gold Glove, two-time Silver Slugger and three-time All-Star, Evans collected 2,446 Hits with 385 Home Runs and an OPS of .881.  Ranked #15 on Notinhalloffame.com. In an interview with Billboard, Dave Matthews was asked about his band’s first nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  It was a very humble answer by Matthews, the leader of the Dave Matthews Band.  In addition to saying that he felt “unqualified and undeserving” he had this to say:  “I'm not sure that Lemmy Kilmisterever heard of the Notorious B.I.G., and I'm not sure if the Notorious B.I.G. ever heard of Lemmy, but maybe that's what rock ’n’ roll is… people falling out of their world or getting out of their world and getting in front of everybody and doing something that…
In an interview with 101.8 in Wolverhampton, England,K.K. Dowling of Judas Priest discussed his nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the interview, he had this to say: “I think it’s looking pretty good this time, to be fair.  I know there was a lot of backlash when we didn’t make it last time a year or two ago.” This is Judas Priest’s second nomination for the Hall, the last one coming in 2018.  Dowling isn’t wrong, as there were many fans of the band who were upset that it took them even that long to get nominated.  They were first…
