Yes, we know that this is taking a while! As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team. We have a new one to unveil today, that of the Tampa Bay Rays. Entering the American League as an expansion team in 1998, the Rays were originally the “Devil Rays”, before dropping the demonic portion of their name in 2008. A few days following the passing of Jerry Sloan, another Hall of Fame Coach passed away. Eddie Sutton, one of the most successful college coaches died at the age of 84. A Head Coach at Division I for nearly four decades, Sutton took four different schools to the NCAA tournament. As a player, Sutton played at Oklahoma State (1955-58), and following his playing days, transitioned into a role as an Assistant Coach for one year. It is a sad day in the Basketball world as long time Hall of Fame Coach, Jerry Sloan, passed away today at the age of 78. He passed away from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson Disease. Playing his college ball at Evansville, Sloan was a two-time NBA All-Star and four-time First Team Defensive player, with a career spent mostly in Chicago. Sloan would later be their Assistant Coach, and was promoted to their Head Coach. Tonight, during the UFC on ESPN 8 broadcast it was announced that Kevin Randleman will be entering the UFC Hall of Fame in the Pioneer Wing. Randleman was a two-time NCAA Wrestling Champion in the 177-pound weight class and the former Ohio State Buckeye, and he would have his first professional fight in 1996. Richard Seymour was inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame today, beating out Mike Vrabel and Bill Parcells in an online vote. Seymour arrived in New England when the Patriots used their number 6 pick of the 2001 Draft to select the All-American from Georgia, and he became a starting Defensive End as a rookie. From Macon, Georgia, Little Richard was born Richard Penniman and took to music like a duck to water.
