Top 50 Seattle Seahawks

An expansion team in 1976, the Seattle Seahawks had their typical expansion struggles, but as of this writing, they are one of the higher-profile teams in the National Football League.

Seattle was in the NFC in its inaugural year, only to switch to the NFC in 1977.  This was the conference that they stayed in until 2002, and they would only win their AFC Division (West) twice, failing to win the conference.  This would change when they moved back to the NFC, where they have represented the conference three times (2005, 2013 and 2014), and won the Super Bowl once (XLVIII)

With the Seahawks still under 50 years of age, this is a list that should see rankings change easily over the next few years.

This list is up to the end of the 2022 season.

Note: Football lists are based on an amalgamation of tenure, traditional statistics, advanced statistics, playoff statistics, and post-season accolades.

Russell Wilson was the 2008 ACC Rookie of the Year, and four years later, he was the NFL Rookie of the Year with the Seahawks, who had drafted him in the Third Round that year.
A member of the Seattle Seahawks for his entire career, we were so close to placing Steve Largent at the top of this list.  In the end, we went with Walter Jones, but if you think we erred, we certainly could be talked into flip-flopping the two.
Bobby Wagner arrived in Seattle a round ahead of Quarterback, Russell Wilson, and both of them can take a lot of credit for taking the Seahawks to the promised land.
An absolute beast at Florida State, Walter Jones was chosen by the Seahawks with the 6th overall pick in the 1997 Draft.
A two-time National Champion and All-American at the University of Miami, Cortez Kennedy was an All-Rookie in a career spent entirely with the Seattle Seahawks.

As the Seattle Seahawk Defensive Back corps grew into prominence in the 2010s, the face of the group was Richard Sherman, their starting Left Corner.
A superstar at Texas where he was an All-American, Earl Thomas was the 14th pick of the 2010 Draft.
A star player with UCLA, Kenny Easley was the fourth overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 1981.
Playing all but his last two Games of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, Jacob Green arrived in Seattle as the 10th overall pick in 1980.
Shaun Alexander was a star at the University of Alabama, and the Seattle Seahawks were able to secure him with their first round pick in the 2000 Draft.
You don’t expect an NFL career from an undrafted Quarterback from Milton, but Dave Krieg had other ideas.
Many in the city of Buffalo are still upset that they traded Marshawn Lynch for a pair of draft picks in 2010, and in that year’s playoff, “Beast Mode” became a nationally known figure.
When Mike Holmgren left the Green Bay Packers to coach Seattle, he knew that Matt Hasselbeck, the backup to Brett Favre, was NFL ready.  He was right and engineered a trade for the pivot, who took over as the starting QB in 2001.
Before there was Marshawn Lynch, and before there was Kurt Warner, there was Curt Warner, who was arguably the Seattle Seahawks’ first star Running Back.
Helping the Virginia Tech Hokies win two ACC Titles, Kam Chancellor’s next stop was Seattle, where he arrived as a 2010 fifth round pick.
John Williams was a star Fullback at the University of Florida, and he did well on the pro ranks when he was taken with Seattle’s First Round (15th Overall) Pick in the 1986 Draft.
Eugene Robinson went undrafted out of Colgate in 1985, but he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks, where he made the team.
When you go undrafted, you don’t expect that you will be the most tenured player in any NFL team, but that is what Joe Nash accomplished with the Seattle Seahawks.
At the University of Michigan, Steve Hutchinson helped the Wolverines win a title in 1997 and was an All-American in 2000.  The Seattle Seahawks were fortunate that the Offensive Lineman fell to them with the 17th overall pick of the 2001 Draft.
