The International Boxing Hall of Fame has announced their ballot for the Class of 2020.  It is a particularly loaded ballot, as the Hall has reduced their wait time to three years. The full ballot of the Modern Candidates was not released, but they did announce the 12 new eligible former boxers who have been named to the ballot: They are: Jorge Arce:  64-8-2-1 49 KO, Mexico.  Former WBO-NABO, WBO, WBC, Lineal Light Flyweight, WBC, WBO Super Flyweight and WBO Bantamweight Champion. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s incoming chairman, John Sykes, has stated that he intends to see the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony live on HBO. This came from an interview that Sykes did with the L.A. Times.  In the piece, he also said that he was looking for the Rock Hall to have more a presence in Los Angeles, and he also promised to connect more with young people. After being dormant since 2012, the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame has announced their newest Class.  They will be officially inducted on November 1, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The new class consists of: 1998 Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team:  This was the first time that Women’s Hockey was featured in the Olympics and the U.S. defeated the favored Canadian team in the Gold Medal Game. So begins my annual sojourn through all of the bands first eligible for the Rock Hall for the coming year. Usually, this is a list of 30, sometimes 40 at the outside. But 1994, the year that all of these bands had their first major release was a banner year for music. As a result there were nearly 90 bands that I considered before making this countdown. The Canadian Music Hall of Fame has announced the newest members who will comprise the Class of 2019. The Canadian Music Hall of Fame was established in 1978.  The Class will be officially inducted in an industry event on October 27 in Calgary, Alberta. The Class will also be featured at the 2020 Juno Awards.
