Not in Hall of Fame News

Tomorrow in between the first and second quarter of the “Apple Bowl” between Washington and Washington State, former Cougar football star, Steve Gleason will be inducted into the Washington State Athletic Hall of Fame. Lettering in both Football and Baseball at WSU, Gleason was a star Linebacker starting 20 of 31 games where he was named one of the team’s co-captains and was the starting Center Fielder for the Baseball Team. Although he was undrafted in the NFL, he would go on to play seven seasons with the New Orleans Saints on Safety and Special Teams, most famously blocking a…

As you may have already heard (and if you are visiting this website, we strongly suspect that they you have) the Baseball Hall of Fame has officially issued their Hall of Fame ballot, though anyone who follows the Cooperstown based Hall knows that the ballot contains no surprises. The biggest name (in our eyes) on the ballot is Barry Bonds, the man who holds the all time record for Home Runs in the Majors, is without question (along with Roger Clemens), the most controversial.  Bonds, is entering his third year on the ballot and though he only received 34.7 %…
It is a sad day in the world of hockey as both Pat Quinn and Viktor Tikhonov passed away today, both legends in the world of coaching the game of hockey. Pat Quinn carved a decent niche in the National Hockey League where he played nine seasons on the blue line for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and Atlanta Flames, but it was behind the bench where he would gain his greatest fame. The year after he retired as a player, Quinn would become an assistant coach for future Hall of Fame coach, Fred Shero in Philadelphia. And the…
Major League Baseball unilaterally retired the number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in 1947.  His alma mater, UCLA has announced that the number 42 will be retired in all aspects of athletics in honor of the 75th anniversary of when he first set foot on campus. At UCLA, Robinson became the school’s first four letter athlete.  He played on the backfield of the UCLA Football team, making the Bruins team one of the first few integrated teams in the College Football.  He was also a member of the Men’s Basketball team, the Baseball (of…
The Hockey Hall of Fame may be snubbing Eric Lindros, but the Philadelphia Flyers have welcomed #88 back into the fold where he has entered the team’s Hall of Fame.  Lindros is not alone in this year’s class as his long time line mate in Philadelphia, John LeClair, joined him.  After refusing to suit for the Quebec Nordiques, who drafted him first overall in 1991, Quebec engineered a blockbuster trade the year after that sent the former Oshawa General to the Philadelphia Flyers.  Lindros with his large size and physical style, would emerge as the NHL’s top power forward.  In…

It’s here!  This weekend the Hockey Hall of Fame honors the cream of the crop with the induction of the Class of 2014, and with this year’s group, we have a true international flavor, mimicking the great powers of the winter’s greatest game. Starting in the Czech Republic, we have the man who we feel is the headliner of this year’s class in Dominik Hasek.  In the NHL, Hasek won two Hart Trophies, made six First Team All Star Teams, and won six Vezina Trophies while making the Buffalo Sabres a relevant team.  He took Buffalo to the Stanley Cup…
The final two inductees from the online vote for Goal.com Hall of Fame have been announced and two more legends will be joining Diego Maradonna, Zinedine Zidane and Pele to this new Hall. Those of you who are have followed us here at Notinhalloffame.com know about our admiration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  When people travel to Canton, Ohio, chances are it is this Hall that they are going to see.  Recognizing this, the Pro Football Hall has announced that its board of trustees has approved a major expansion project that should it come to fruition would make Canton the “Disneyworld of Football”. The crux of the plan would be the creation of a “Hall of Fame Village” complete with restaurants, retail shops and a residential portion for former athletes.  A…
