Not in Hall of Fame News

There are chances that if you are regular visitor to this website, you know that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the constant controversy that surrounds it, is the backbone of what this site about.  The Pennsylvania based “America’s Pop Music Hall of Fame” may not have nearly the same prestige or name recognition, but they have unveiled their third Class, which will be the official Class of 2015. Named to their Hall of Fame are the following: Paul McCartneyLinda RonstadtGlen CampbellPaul AnkaChubby CheckerThe EaglesThe Everly BrothersThe Four SeasonsTom JonesRicky NelsonThe Righteous BrothersJohnny TillotsonAndy Williams With all due…
It was announced that Quarterback, Kyle Orton has informed the Buffalo Bills that he plans to retire from the National Football League. Orton took over as the Bills starter in week 5 this season, taking over for the ineffective E.J. Manuel and would go 7 and 5 this year. Kyle played his college football at Purdue and was the only Quarterback to start in four Bowl Games; 2001 Sun Bowl Loss, 2002 Sun Bowl Win, 2003 Capital One Bowl Loss and a 2004 Sun Bowl Loss and threw for 8,918 Yards and 61 Touchdowns.  He would be drafted by the…
We were not playing to really look at Pro Bowl selections, but every time the Pro Football Hall of Fame announces their classes, articles always point to the amount of Pro Bowl selections a player accumulated.  With that in mind, we thought we would take a brief look at this year’s Pro Bowl selections, and what, if any impact that holds for the Hall of Fame. Quarterbacks: Tom Brady, New England Patriots.  10th Pro Bowl Selection.  Brady is already a First Ballot Hall of Fame inductee, and there is a very good chance he could add a fourth Super Bowl…
We here at Notinhalloffame.com have to apologize as we are late to acknowledge the passing of former World Boxing Association Champion, Ernie Terrell, who passed away a few days ago at the age of 75. Terrell became a professional boxer in 1957 and would work his way up the rankings until he received a title shot in 1965 when he fought Ernie Machen for the vacant WBA Heavyweight Championship.  The belt became vacant, when Muhammad Ali vacated the championship (he was still the WBC Champion) when he took a fight against former champion Sonny Liston instead.  Terrell would defeat Machen…

RIP: Joe Cocker

It was a sad day in the world of Rock and Roll as we learned today that Joe Cocker died of lung cancer at the age of 70. The English Blues/Rocker hit worldwide prominence in the late 60’s on both sides of the pond where his Beatles cover of “With a Little Help From My Friends” went number one in the United Kingdom, and though only went to 68 in the United States, his live version of the song at Woodstock was a major moment of what would become the most important concert of a generation.  Joe Cocker would embark…
We may not have been thrilled with the latest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class, (and based on what we have read online and what some of you have told us, neither do you!) but that means to us that it is time to revamp our long list of eligible acts for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and as we have done in the last few years we are soliciting your input. As you aware (or for new visitors, who may not be), your votes and comments do matter to us, and as such we adjust the…
Some of you who are regular visitors to our website know that we will be unveiling in the future a look at each North American franchise and ranking them in order of how they honor their former players and/or contributors.  That will not be unveiled until late next year, but the natural progression of that will be to look at the major U.S. Universities and as such whenever one major college Hall of Fame announces a new class you can believe we will be interested. Missouri University has just announced their latest class, which includes six new members, three of…
Constantly we read from visitors to our website that Rap and Hip Hop have no business in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  While we don’t agree with that (and were legitimately upset that N.W.A. were passed over this year) it looks like there will soon be a physical Hip Hop Hall of Fame that will take root in Harlem, New York. A fundraiser took place last night with the goal of raising one million dollars to establish a satellite location on 125th Street in 2015 before a permanent location in midtown New York City.  The intent is to…
The International Ice Hockey Hall of Fame has announced their latest class and true to its name, the class represents players from around the world.  This year’s class adds seven new members to the Toronto based Hall, though the ceremony will take place next May in Prague during the 2015 World Hockey Championships. The headliner is Dominik Hasek, who was just inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.  Hasek played internationally for the Czech Republic and would take them to the Olympic Gold Medal in 1998.  This was no misnomer as the “Dominator” allowed only six goals in the entire…
Well gang, this is our Christmas Day, but the presents that we got from Cleveland have us scratching our collective heads. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have announced the Class of 2015, and we have to admit that based on the nominees we saw this playing out completely different.     The group getting most of the press of the Class, is Green Day, who were entering their first year of eligibility.  The punk revival band have been very successful commercially, though have been somewhat polarizing in terms of whether they were influential or not.  Saying that, they have…
