When you think of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the National Football League franchise with the most Super Bowl Championships, you would almost automatically think that they would have the most, or close to the most retired numbers in the NFL.  The reality is that they are not even close. RIP: Bob Geigel

It was announced yesterday that former wrestler and promoter, Bob Geigel passed away due to Alzheimer’s Disease.  He was 90 years old. Geigel attended the University serving his country in World War II.  A natural athlete, Geigel excelled in amateur wrestling, so much so that he placed third in the NCAA National Championship.  His size and acumen made him a natural to join the professional ranks and before long he was competing in Missouri and Amarillo. We have been reporting often about the Country Music Hall of Fame, and their constant new exhibits that they have been implementing.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has not been ushering in new exhibits nearly as often, but when they do, you know it will be big. RIP: Gordy Soltau

It was announced yesterday that Gordy Soltau, a member of the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame passed away yesterday at the age of 89 of natural causes. Soltau, a long time resident of the Bay Area, played his entire pro career with the 49ers (1950-58), playing at both the Wide Receiver and Place Kicker position.  A three time Pro Bowl Selection, Soltau’s best season was in 1951, where he finished second in both Receptions and Receiving Yards and when he retired, he was the all time leading scorer for San Francisco.  In his career, Soltau would catch 249 passes…
It was announced today that Cornerback, Champ Bailey has decided to officially retire from Professional Football.  Bailey, who was cut by the New Orleans Saints in the pre-season, has decided not to continue, although he did receive feelers from a few NFL teams.  Bailey was a standout at the University at Georgia, where he was a consensus All American in 1998 and the winner of the Bronco Nagurski Award as the Nations top Defensive Player.  Bailey would also contribute on Special Teams and occasionally on Offence where he had five Touchdowns. You may have noticed that we here at Notinhalloffame.com only post Hockey players whom are still active in our futures list.  The main reason for that is that the Hockey Hall of Fame inducts players three years after their retirement as opposed to the five used by Football, Baseball and Basketball, thus rendering us looking a little further ahead in this winter sport than the others. Tonight the Country Music Hall of Fame officially inducted their latest class, which was headlined by Ronnie Milsap, Bluegrass legend Mac Wiseman and the late songwriter, Hank Cochran.
