So much for that leak that Spencer Haywood was going into Basketball Hall of Fame. Haywood claimed that he was told by “someone in the NBA” that he was HOF bound; though that information appeared to be erroneous. Based on that information, media outlets (including us) reported that Haywood would be in. Unfortunately, the joke is not on us, but on Haywood who was clearly crushed by the confusion. The four time All Star found out on Friday that he was not in, though reports had already began to sprout that he was selected. “This is so embarrassing” stated Haywood. “My…

Although it will not be official until Monday, it appears that the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2013 is set. We have no problem announcing that this is a class that makes us very happy, as our top three candidates will be inducted. This includes first year nominee, and our number one candidate, Gary Payton. His defensive acumen made him a star, and the Glove deserves to enter immediately. The number two and three candidates on our list, Bernard King and Spencer Haywood, had a much longer wait for their call, which for both has been a long…
Although it is not officially confirmed, it has been reported that Gary Payton will be selected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The official announcement will come on Monday, but if accurate, we would like to congratulate the Glove for this deserved accomplishment.
For us, it is always news when a player’s jersey is retired. The player in question is usually a Hall of Famer, or one who had significant impact on a franchise, so when it happens we always take notice; especially when it happens in a team as storied as the Los Angeles Lakers.Tonight in L.A., the charismatic Shaquille O’Neal will have his number 34 retired by the Lakers organization where he was a member of three NBA championship teams. Shaq’s best years were in Los Angeles, though the powerful center is equally remembered for the feud he had with fellow…
As the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony slowly approaches, announcements have been made regarding the event. Four of the inductees (Heart, Rush, Randy Newman and Public Enemy) will be performing at the Los Angeles held ceremony on April 18th. They will be inducted by Chris Cornell who is best known as the lead singer of…
