Yes, we know that this is taking a while! As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team. We have a new one to unveil today, that of the Cleveland Browns. Formed in 1946 by Paul Brown, the Browns were an inaugural team in the All-American Football Conference. Cleveland was an undisputed power in the new football league, winning the four Championships in the league’s existence. We have a new one to unveil today, that of the Tennessee Titans. An original team in the American Football League, the Tennessee Titans, began their existence as the Houston Oilers. The Oilers were the first power of the league, winning the first two Championships and losing the third title game. A week before the 2021 NFL Season is to begin, we now know that five-time Pro Bowl Defensive Lineman, Jurrell Casey, will not be among the players. Casey, 31, retired today, after a ten-year career. Playing his college ball at USC, Casey arrived in the NFL to Tennessee as a Third Round Pick in 2011. Casey became an immediate starter at Right Defensive Tackle, and was arguably robbed of a Pro Bowl in 2013, a year he had a career-high 10.5 Sacks. The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced that Art McNally is the Contributor Nominee for the Class of 2022. McNally is considered to be the “Father of Modern Officiating”, and if elected would be the first official to enter Canton. Today is a special day for those of us who are in tune with the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Canton, Ohio based institution has announced their Finalists for the Senior and Coach sections, and while we love the selections, the choices are not we thought. The Senior candidate is Cliff Branch, who while we believe is a worthy inductee, is not one we thought, based on what we heard. Damn. A legendary drummer, Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, passed away today at the age of 80. From London, England, Watts joined the Stones in 1963, and was with the group until he died. Considered one of the most versatile and proficient drummers of his era, or any other, Watts was the backbone of what can only be described as the greatest rock and roll band of all-time. Rock and Roll heaven got a lot more harmonious today as Don Everly, one half of the Everly Brothers, passed away at age 84. The Everly Brothers (Don and Phil) were masters of harmony and were part of the early Rock and Roll fabric.
