Not in Hall of Fame News

Another day, another series of news about the WWE Hall of Fame. While it was speculated that Regis Philbin would be this year’s celebrity WWE HOF inductee, it was announced that rapper, Snoop Dogg will be the one receiving the honor. Snoop, the cousin of WWE Diva, Sasha Banks has made numerous appearances on WWE Television.  He appeared on two Wrestlemnias’, most notably as the Master of Ceremonies in the Wrestlemania 24 “Lumberjill Match” and was also seen on RAW knocking out former WWE Superstar, Chavo Guerrero. While this would not be one we here at Notinhalloffame.com would have chosen,…

There is more news in the WWE Hall of Fame front as the Dudley Boyz have been revealed as the inductors for Jacqueline. While in terms of WWE storylines, Jacqueline and the Dudleys had little interaction however the “brothers” were friends of Jacqueline and it was her choice to have them as her inductors.  It was also reported that Ted DiBiase will induct the Big Boss Man.  The two feuded in the WWE in 1990 and were in the UWF together previously.  The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will be held this Saturday.
It was announced yesterday that Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, Joe Garagiola passed away at the age of 90. Garagiola had a nine year career as a player, peaked by a World Series Championship as a rookie with the St. Louis Cardinals, but it was skills with his vocabulary and personality that far exceeded his accomplishments on the baseball diamond. Beginning in 1961, Garagiola would become a baseball broadcaster for NBC and for nearly 30 years would work games for the network.  Most notably, he would work the “Game of the Week” and starred alongside Curt Gowdy, Tony Kubek and…

RIP: "Ken Reeves"

For fans of our Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame, it is a sad day as Ken Howard, the man who played Ken Reeves on The White Shadow passed away at the age of 71. In recent years, Howard was known for his work as the President of the Screen Actors Guild and he had regular work in film and television over the past forty years, but when you read many of the obituaries for Howard reference his role as Ken Reeves. The White Shadow was a landmark show as it one of the first to showcase a predominantly African-American cast…
We aren’t really sure what we think of this one. It was strongly speculated and for the most part assumed that Kevin Von Erich would be inducting the Fabulous Freebirds into the WWE Hall of Fame.  It was announced today that this would not be the case. Current WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E. and Xavier Woods will have that honor, and for us this is a bit of a head scratcher.  The Von Erich/Freebirds feud set the World Class territory on fire and it seemed fitting that the last surviving member of the Von…
The College Basketball Hall of Fame has officially announced the next class of inductees, which will consist of six former players and two coaches. Those men are Mark Aguirre, Bob Boozer, Doug Collins, Lionel Simmons, Jamaal Wilkes and Dominique Wilkins join former coaches Hugh Durham and Mike Montgomery. Averaging 24.5 Points per Season in his three seasons at DePaul, Mark Aguirre took the Blue Demons to a Final Four appearance as a Freshman.  The following year he was named the Naismith College Player of the Year. Playing for Kansas State in the late 1950’s, Bob Boozer would bring the Jayhawks…
We were going to hold off on this until it became official but it has leaked multiple times this weekend, we might as well go ahead and talk about it! The WWE Hall of Fame will shortly be announcing that Stan Hansen will be part of the Class of 2016.  Hansen, who may have a stronger legacy in America with his work in the NWA and the AWA (where he was the World Champion in 1985), did have a notable run in the then named World Wide Wrestling Federation when he broke the neck of champion Bruno Sammartino and challenged…
As we slowly work on the 50 All-Time players for each major North American franchise, the follow up will be a look at how they honor their past players/coaches/executives.  This being said, it is news to us that the Indianapolis Colts will be retiring the number 18 of former Quarterback, Peyton Manning and will also be erecting a statue in his honor outside of Lucas Oil Field. The number one draft pick in 1998, Manning was the team’s starting Quarterback for fourteen years and was the NFL MVP four times.  Manning took the Colts to the Super Bowl twice, winning…
Chicago White Sox player, Adam LaRoche surprised Major League Baseball with his surprise retirement this week, though the reason he did so was that team president, Ken Williams, had asked LaRoche to curb the amount of time that his 14 year old son was spending with the team.  The White Sox did not have a policy on the amount of time that players children could spend with the team and the edict by Williams caught LaRoche and his teammates off guard, as his teammates threatened to boycotts today’s Spring Training Game in support of LaRoche, who by retiring suddenly is…
