Not in Hall of Fame News

It was announced today by the Golden State Warriors that their former Center, Nate Thurmond died at the age of 74 after a bout with leukemia. Thurmond, a member of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players list, played collegiately at Bowling Green before being drafted third overall in 1963 by the Warriors.   Thurmond was an All Star by his sophomore season and made the mid-season festivity seven times.  Thurmond was not known for his offense, a little surprising considering he exceeded 20 Points per Game per season.  Rather, he was known for his rebounding prowess finishing in the top five in…
At some point in time, we plan do take a serious look at all the individual Halls of Fame.  We will get there eventually, and when we do the Winnipeg Jets will now be part of it as they have announced their own Hall of Fame. The new Hall will not open empty, as their famed “Hot Line” of Bobby Hull, Ulf Nilsson and Anders Hedberg from the 1970’s will be the first inductees.  The ceremony will take place at the Jets home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 19. Bobby Hull made headlines when he jumped to…
This is truly the end of an era for basketball fans in San Antonio. Actually it is an end of an era period. After 19 years in the National Basketball Association, 40 year old Tim Duncan has announced his retirement from the sport. Drafted out of Wake Forest first overall in 1997, Duncan enter the professional ranks making an immediate impact on the sport.  Duncan was named the Rookie of the Year and would be named to the First Team All-NBA squad.  Not a bad rookie year right?  In his sophomore season, he would take San Antonio to the NBA…
Damn, this is a long process isn’t it? We have told you that we are looking to do for each major North American Franchise in professional sports their top 50 players.  There have been quite a few that we have done, but as you know there are a lot more left to do! As such, we have another team whose top 50 players we are ready to announce, in our opinion of course. It is a return to Motown, with multi-time World Series Champion, the Detroit Tigers. As one of the more successful and tenured franchises in Major League Baseball,…
We here at Notinhalloffame.com have put in a lot of effort in regards to the WWE section, but we have not exactly given as much attention as we should to the Celebrity Wing.  That has changed today. We have had in the past seen celebrities enter the WWE Hall of Fame who frankly were not on our radar (namely Snoop Dogg) so expansion seemed like the natural thing to do.  As such, our top 10 has expanded to 29, and here is the necessary information to the new entrants. Here is the 29 Celebrity possibilities for the WWE Hall of…
We love days like this! Today the Hockey Hall of Fame announced the 2016 Hockey Hall of Fame Class and without any clear cut nominees it opened up the chance for other entries to enter the hallowed halls of Toronto.  This is exactly what happened today. Eric Lindros, the former NHL Hart Trophy winner will headline this year’ class.  Lindros was forced to retire early due to concussions but was still able to be a Point per Game player with 865 career Points.  Lindros was a seven time NHL All Star and was ranked #1 on our Notinhalloffame.com Hockey List.…
OK, gang!  It’s that time again! Last September, Notinhalloffame.com announced the launch of the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a sister of our Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame, which inducted its first full class on December 2, 2014. The first full class of the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which was inducted last year comprised The Blues Brothers, Spinal Tap and the Monkees; all of which were considered controversial though all had a fictional story about them. This year as the result of your online votes the 2016 Semi-Finalists have been chosen.  The Semi-Finalists are: 1. …

RIP: "Billy Bob"

Fans of our Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame likely remember the late 1990’s film, Varsity Blues.  Sadly, we learned that Ron Lester, who played troubled Offensive Lineman, “Billy Bob” passed away at the age of 45. Lester, who was morbidly obese during the time of the film, had lost most of that weight and did not look remotely like his former self.  Despite that weight loss (or perhaps because of it), Lester developed severe kidney and liver problems and had been in the hospital the last four months.  He was taken off of life support, as per his request. The…
The UFC Hall of Fame has announced its latest entrant into their Hall of Fame, and the third officially in their Fight Wing. The Pete Williams VS Mark Coleman fight from UFC 17 in 1998 will be inducted.  The fight saw Williams defeat the heavily favored Coleman with a stiff head kick.  The underdog took the fight on two weeks notice and despite taking a severe pounding during the contest only to score a quick win in overtime.  This fight joins the Stephan Bonnar VS Forrest Griffin match from the Ultimate Fighter I Finale and the Matt Hughes VS Frank…
Every year it seems that we here at Notinhalloffame.com talk about the TNA Hall of Fame and openly ask if with the financial state of the wrestling promotion whether they will be around along enough to induct another performer. We ask that question again as this week they have announced the selection of their first female entrant, Gail Kim, to their Hall. This is an excellent choice as the Canadian wrestler was what the TNA women’s division was built on and for a time it could be stated that TNA put out some of the best women’s wrestling in America…
