1968 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS: Thank you for all of your participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are unaware of what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946. We have completed the years up to 1967. For “1968,” a Preliminary Vote with nearly 100 players whose playing career ended by 1961. We are also following the structure in that players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool. Each voter was asked to select 25…

One of the Los Angeles Dodgers' legendary pitchers passed away days before the Dodgers will face the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series. Fernando Valenzuela, who took over the hearts of Los Angeles in the early 80s, passed away yesterday.  He was 63 years old. From Navojoa, Mexico, Valenzuela was a late call-up in 1980.  Due to an injury to Jerry Reuss on the eve of the 1981 Opening Day, he got the call and began the season by winning his first eight decisions.  He finished the season as 13-7 with a league-leading 190 Strikeouts and would win…

We are also following the structure in that players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool. Each voter was asked to select…

The names considered are: Bill Arnsberger.  Arnsberger is one of the most heralded defensive minds in NFL history, first working for the Baltimore Colts (1964-69) where his defense brought the Colts to Super Bowl III.  He would join his Cots Coach, Don Shula, to Miami, where his “No-Name Defense” led the Dolphins to back-to-back Super Bowl wins.  He took…

After soliciting and obtaining a passionate group of football fans and historians, we sent out a ballot for a Preliminary Vote, in which we asked each voter to give us 25 names as their semi-finalists and 5 in the Senior Pool. We then asked the group to vote for their 15 Finalists in the Modern Era and 3…

Regular visitors of Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB. Once that is done, we will examine how each team honors its past players, coaches, and executives. As such, it is important to us that the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League will retire the number 97 of Connor McDavid. The event will occur on January 10 during Erie’s home game against Saginaw. Receiving a special exemption (Exceptional Player Status) to enter the OHL Draft at age 15 (only John Tavares and Aaron Ekblad…
