1969 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS: Thank you for all of your participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are unaware of what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946. We have completed the years up to 1968. The Strong National Museum of Play has announced the three new toys that will be part of the Toy Hall of Fame.  My Little Pony, Phase 10, and Transformers beat out nine other finalists, which were Apples to Apples, Balloons, Choose Your Own Adventure Gamebooks, Hess Toy Trucks, Pokémon Trading Cards, Remote Control Vehicles, Sequence, the Stick Horse and Trampolines. My Little Pony was first introduced by Hasbro in 1983, and boasts over a thousand varieties. Created by Ken Johnson, Phase 10 would become the second best-selling card game, only trailing Uno. The Classic Baseball Era, which consists of the period to 1980 (including the Negro Leagues), has announced its eight Finalists for the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The nominees are: Dick Allen:  Here is Allen again, and fans and family of the late slugger must be tired of waiting.  Allen was on the Writer’s Ballot for 15 years, peaking at 18.9% in 1996, his fourteenth year.  As for the Veterans ballot, this is his sixth try, with him falling short by one vote in his last two tries (2015 and 2022).  Allen was the 1972 American League MVP…

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has named nine Coaching Semi-Finalists, which has been reduced from a group of 12 that was previously cut down from a group of 14. This Pro Football Hall of Fame Coaches Committee will meet virtually on November 19, putting forth one Finalist for the Full Selection Committee. The Semi-Finalists are: Bill Arnsberger.  Arnsberger is one of the most heralded defensive minds in NFL history, first working for the Baltimore Colts (1964-69) where his defense brought the Colts to Super Bowl III.  He would join his Cots Coach, Don Shula, to Miami, where his “No-Name…
We have a major update on our Notinhalloffame Basketball Hall of Fame Monitor, where we have now divided our Top 50 Active Players into five positional categories: Point GuardsShooting GuardsSmall ForwardsPower ForwardsCenters In each position, we utilize the average traditional and advanced statistics of the last five players who reached the Hall of Fame, but not their induction year, but rather the last five whose Peak Period occurred.  This means that no Senior induction will be part of the average. Can we again tell you how much we love this time of year? The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced the Semi-Finals from a field of 25 compiled from a recent reduction vote.  The Committee will meet virtually on November 12 and select one Finalist who will put forth one finalist for the full Selection Committee. The names considered are: Bud Adams.  Adams was the owner and founder of the Houston Oilers, where his team won the first two AFL Championships.  Instrumental in forming the AFL, he was Adams was also impactful in the AFL’s merger with the NFL. …

RIP: Bill Hay

Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Bill Hay passed away at 88. From Saskatchewan, Hay played eight seasons in the NHL, all with the Chicago Black Hawks, where he was the 1960 Calder Trophy winner and helped his squad win the 1961 Stanley Cup.  As a player, Hay scored a respectable 386 Points in 506 Games. Following his playing career, Hay entered the oil business, but the lure of hockey brought him back.  He served as the President and CEO of Hockey Canada and was the head of Hockey Canada.  Hay also was a past voter for the Hockey Hall of…
The International Tennis Hall of Fame has announced that Maria Sharapova, Bob, and Mike Bryan will comprise the Class of 2025. They will be inducted in Newport, Rhode Island, on August 23, 2025. From Russia, Sharapova is one of ten female players to have a career Grand Slam, winning the Australian Open (2008), French Open (2012 & 2014), Wimbledon (2004) and U.S. Open (2006) and had 36 Career Singles Titles with an overall 645-171 record.  A former #1, Sharapova also won a Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympics.
