Not in Hall of Fame News

Although we do not foresee in the near future devoting a section of our website to those who are not in the College Football Hall of Fame, we here at Notinhalloffame.com have major respect for that particular Hall, and of course College Football as a whole. Today the College Football Hall of Fame has announced the entire Class of 2014, and we thought it would be worthwhile to take a deeper look at the entire group. Dre Bly:  North Carolina   Cornerback, 1996-98 Bly is a two time consensus All American and led the nation is Interceptions in his freshman season…
We have to apologize, as we have not been keeping up as much as we should be with the NASCAR Hall of Fame, but we do promise to rectify that in the upcoming months.  Yesterday, the Charlotte based institution announced the class of 2015, which announced five men who many racing pundits will not likely question. For many, the headliner is Bill Elliott who was the 1988 Winston Cup Champion.  Calling Elliott a popular driver seems so understated as he was voted the Winston Cup Series Most Popular Driver sixteen times, which is the most by far and in 2005…
‘Tis the seasons for NFL franchise Halls of Fame to announce new members.  Former Quarterback, Aaron Brooks and former Place Kicker, John Carney comprises the New Orleans Hall of Fame Class of 2014. Brooks joined the Saints in 2000 and took over the starting role in November.  The Saints had made the playoffs before Brooks arrival, but he was the first man to Quarterback them to a playoff victory.  His career in New Orleans lasted six seasons where he threw for 120 Touchdowns and 19,156 Yards.  Carney joined the Saints in 2001 at the age of 37, and spent eight…
The New England Patriots have announced that Ty Law will be the 22nd member of the franchise’s Hall of Fame by winning their fan vote.  Law will be officially inducted on August 1st outside their Hall of Fame facility in a ceremony that will be available to the public.  Law will be further celebrated at their October 16th game against the New York Jets at halftime. Ty Law was drafted in the First Round in 1995 (23rd overall) and was a member of three Super Bowl championship teams.  He spent his first ten seasons in the NFL with the Pats…
Last November, The Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame announced Rocky Balboa as their inaugural inductee.  The Class of 2014 Semi-Finalists has been announced, which were the result of online voting.  50 Athletes and 30 Contributors have advanced to the next round, where voting is permitted until August 15th of this year. The 50 Athlete Semi-Finalists are: A.C. Slater (Saved by the Bell) Al Bundy (Married, With Children) Al Czervik (Caddyshack) All the Way May Mortabito (A League of Their Own) Amanda Whurlitzer (The Bad News Bears) Apollo Creed (Rocky, Rocky II and Rocky III) Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez (The Sandlot)…
When the Los Angeles Kings eliminated the Anaheim Ducks, it was believed that the NHL career of Teemu Selanne had come to an end.  Selanne first entered the NHL with the original Winnipeg Jets in the 1992/93 season, and he took the league by storm by not only winning the Calder Trophy, but leading the NHL in Goals with 76.  “The Finnish Flash” never hit that total again, but he would again top the NHL in Goals twice more, the latter of which, he was awarded the first ever Rocket Richard Trophy which now annually is given the NHL player…
Is it going to be a weekly occurrence where we praise the actions of the Country Music Hall of Fame?  It sure looks like it as once again, we have become aware of another major exhibit that will take place there, this time honouring the career of Miranda Lambert. Lambert, who is only 30 years old, has had a meteoric rise to stardom, and arguably has a lot more hits and awards in them, probably could have another exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame in a decade.  However, with the expanded size, and new modern attitude, this exhibit…
We owe you all an apology!  When the New York Yankees announced a few days ago that they were retiring the number 6 of Joe Torre, and the inevitable end of single digit uniforms in the Bronx.  In addition to the retirement of number 6 and his addition to Monument Park, there are additional plaques of former Yankees that will go on permanent display. Multiple plaques exist on Monument Park are present that celebrates the careers of Yankees who did not have their number retire.  This includes, Miller Huggins, Jacob Ruppert, Joe McCarthy, Lefty Gomez, Allie Reynolds, Mel Allen, Bob…
Every year that the Tennis Hall of Fame announces their latest class, we have openly questioned the standards of those they have let into their establishment.  Basically, their Hall of Fame has a lot who fit into a Hall of “Pretty Good”.  However, the Rhode Island based institution has announced something that we feel is worth praising with their 16 million dollar expansion. Additional exhibits and the use of upgraded technology is part of the plan, the rest of which involves additional tennis courts, a larger stadium, and additional campus wide amenities.   We are curious to see if this will…
Whether or not you think the process behind the Baseball Hall of Fame voting is a controversial or not, one thing that most people agree on is that there is something magical about Cooperstown and all that it represents.  That is why it is worth celebrating when a major piece of its facility is now going on tour. The Hall of Fame plaque of Babe Ruth, who may still be the most iconic Baseball Player of all time, will be on display when the New York Yankees host their cross-town rival, the Mets this Tuesday.  Afterwards, the plaque will be…
