The Songwriters Hall of Fame have announced their latest class and there are some major names from the world of music who will be receiving this prestigious accolade.
The 2016 class includes three previous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello and Marvin Gaye, a trio that gave us classic songs such as “Free Fallin”, “Allison” and “What’s Going On?” respectively.
It will also include Nile Rodgers, who has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ten times with Chic. Rodgers who penned many hits for others, will be going in with his Chic bandmate, the late Bernard Edwards.
The final inductee this year is Chip Taylor, who wrote “Wild Thing”, the major hit by the Troggs.
The Songwriting Hall of Fame first came into existence in 1969 and boasts over 400 inductees.
We would like to congratulate this new class, especially Rodgers, who is receiving his due from at least somebody!
