Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity.  As such, we are very happy to present our post 2021/22 revision of our top Edmonton Oilers.

As for all of our top 50 players in hockey we look at the following:

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Hockey League.

3.  Playoff accomplishments.

4.  Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.

Last year, the Oilers finally made it to Conference Finals, which considering their two young superstars, Connor McDavid & Leon Draisitl, was projected for them before now.

As always, we present our top five, which changed from last year:

1. Wayne Gretzky

2. Mark Messier

3. Jari Kurri

4. Connor McDavid

5. Paul Coffey

You can find the entire list here.

McDavid, who won the Art Ross last year for the fourth time, moved up from #6.

2020 Hart Trophy winner, Leon Draisaitl, climbed to #9 from #7.

Center, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, went up two ranks to #17.

Defenseman, Darnell Nurse went up from #26 to #24.

We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.

Last year, the Flyers did not make the playoffs, and went into rebuilding mode.  There was only one change to the top 50, with one new addition.

As always, we present our top five:

1. Bobby Clarke

2. Bernie Parent

3. Bill Barber

4. Eric Lindros

5. Mark Howe

You can find the entire list here.

The lone new entry is Center, Travis Konechy, who makes his first appearance at #50.

We welcome your input and comments and as always, we thank you for your support.

Travis Konecny was a late First Rounder (24th Overall) by Philadelphia in 2015, and as of this writing, he is entering his tenth season with the Flyers.

Relatively small in stature (5'10”), Konecny is a surprisingly physical player, unafraid to give or take hits from other opponents, while still lighting the lamp.  An All-Star in 2020, Konecny had three straight seasons (2017-18 to 2019-20) where he scored 24 Goals.  He did not break 20 Goals over the next two seasons, but in 2022-23, he set a new personal best with 31 Goals, and broke that the year after with 33 Goals and 68 Points.  Konecny also led the NHL in Short-Handed Goals with 6.

Last season, he failed to reach 30 Goals, but had a new personal record in Points with 76.  Entering his prime period going into 2025-26, we could see a sizable jump in this rank when it is redone.

Last year, the Stars barely made the playoffs and were eliminated in the First Round.  There was only one new entrant to the top 50, and while there are three other active Stars on the list, only one saw their rank improve.

As always, we present our top five:

1. Mike Modano

2. Sergei Zubov

3. Jamie Benn

4. Marty Turco

5. Derian Hatcher

You can find the entire list here.

Benn, who was an active Star, was not able to overtake Zubov, who is a Hall of Famer for #2.  Notably, Tyler Seguin, who is also an Active Dallas Star, remained at #7.

Swedish Defenseman, John Klingberg, moved up two spots to #18.  This will be his apex, as he is now with Anaheim.

The lone new entry is Defenseman, Miro Heiskanen, who makes his first appearance at #49.
