Regular visitors to notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB. Once that is done, we will examine how each team honors its past players, coaches, and executives. As such, it is important to us that the Cincinnati Bengals have announced that James Brooks and Bob Trumpy will be joining the Bengals Ring of Honor this year.
The ceremony will take place on November 1 during halftime of the Bengals’ home game against the Tennessee Titans.
After three years with the San Diego Chargers, Brooks played for the Bengals from 1984 to 1991, and the Running Back was chosen for four Pro Bowls. He compiled 9,454 Yards from Scrimmage with 64 Touchdowns, and helped them win the 1988 AFC Championship.
Playing at Tight End, Bob Trumpy played his entire career with the Bengals (1968-77) and amassed 4,600 Receiving Yards, 35 Touchdowns, and, like Brooks, was also a four-time Pro Bowl Selection. He later had a very successful career as a broadcaster. Sadly, this is a posthumous accolade, as Trumpy passed away last year at the age of 80.
