Not in Hall of Fame News

Gang..... Our Christmas Day is here..... The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have announced their selections for this year's class, and the selections to us, really don't come as a surprise. We will take a look at this group based on our rankings and give a few random (which is what we do best) thoughts on the selections. Selected: 5. The Red Hot Chili Peppers The Peppers should have got into on their first year of eligibilty, and it was only a matter of time for them to get in. When they were nominated this year, many (including us)…
It is with great joy that we have learned that Ron Santo was selected by the Veterans Committee to become the latest entrant to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Santo received the necessary percentage to enter, but many (including us) have wondered why it took so long. Statistically, Ron Santo was already there, and had the resume of other third basemen who were already inducted. Santo, passed away earlier this year, and it s quite likely that it took this wave of emotion to sweep him into Cooperstown. Regardless, that it was years too late, we are thrilled with this…
Gang, after a long time we have finally completed the revised WWE List. Votes that were cast had been taken into consideration, and many of those we had listed as Fringe Candidates have moved into the regular list. Fringe Candidates are basically announcers, promoters and pre-WWF performers. Another change is that the list has grown from 200 to 250. Remember, we are not saying that all 250 of these candidates should be in the Hall; rather we are presenting our top 250 for consideration and to foster a fun debate. With that said, take a look and let us know…
The Football Hall of Fame has released their Semi-Finalist selections, and it should be no shock that few surprises have emerged. A quick look sees a very familiar list, and few new names have emerged among this year's eligible players. The list includes (with our ranking listed in front).... 2. Curtis Martin: RB, Patriots & Jets 3. Will Shields: OG, Chiefs 4. Willie Roaf: OT, Saints & Chiefs 5. Cris Carter: WR, Eagles, Vikings & Dolphins 6. Cortez Kennedy: DT, Seahawks 9. Dermontti Dawson: C, Steelers 13. Tim Brown: WR, Raiders 14. Jerome Bettis: RB, Rams & Steelers 15. Andre…
Does winning the MVP AND the Cy Young Award mean you will get into the Baseball Hall of Fame? It may surprise you that less than half of those who accomplished that dual threat are in Cooperstown. Of those the previous nine pitchers who landed both trophies in a season, only four are in. This would be Sandy Koufax, Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers and Bob Gibson. A fifth, Roger Clemens, should have had his ticket punched in a few years, but with his adventures with Congress we doubt that will happen. Three others, Vida Blue, Denny McLain and Don Newcombe…
Special Teams receives very little love from the Football Hall of Fame. The greatest Punter in NFL History, Ray Guy isn't in. We don't expect another Place Kicker to get in the Hall either. Steve Tasker has been a semi-finalist for the Hall, but we believe that this is as far as he will get. This has led to a lot of sports columnists (including the NFL on FOX) to discuss a man who is not even 30 years old yet. That man is Devin Hester. Right now, Hester is a game changer. Opposing teams kick away from him, and…
At the age of 23, Los Angeles Dodgers ace, Clayton Kershaw won the National League Cy Young Award, and won the pitcher's version of the Triple Crown in the process. Unlike Verlander, we are not set to annoint him on a Hall of Fame path just yet, but in this era where good starting pitchers seem so hard to find, we at notinhalloffame are hoping for a bright future for Mr. Kershaw.
We here at notinhalloffame would like to congratulate Detroit Tigers' pitcher, Justin Verlander for unanimously winning the American League Cy Young Award. Cy Youngs are often a key point on resumes for Hall of Fame induction, especially if the candidate has a healthy career. At the age of 28, Verlander has already been a four time All Star and has posted a 107-57 won loss record. In this era of reduced innings, this is very much a Hall of Fame pace.
Today is a big day in our world as the Hockey Hall of Fame will be inducting Joe Niewendyk, Mark Howe, Ed Belfour and Doug Gilmour. This of course reminds us about the work we must do to get out new Hockey List in order!
....our music blogger, Live Music Head has put up a great interview with former Yardbird, Jim McCarty. All this time here we talk about who should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it is a pleasure to have a converaation with somebody already in! Take a look on her tab if you can!
