Not in Hall of Fame News

Here we are! Again!! If you have been following our Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project, you know that we have asked the rhetorical question…what if the PFHOF began in January of 1946? After soliciting and obtaining a passionate group of football fans and historians, we sent out a ballot for a Preliminary Vote, which we asked each voter to give us 25 names as their semi-finalists, and 5 in the Senior Pool. Following that, we asked the group to vote for their 15 Finalists in the Modern Era, and 3 in the Senior Category. The final stage was…
The 2023 National Football League Season begin tonight, and we are ready with our revised list of the top 150 active (or hoping to be) players based on their existing Hall of Fame resume. This is our fourth pre-season monitor, and you can find it all here. A quick synopsis shows that we have the following: 19 Quarterbacks are ranked, including a brand new number one overall, Aaron Rodgers, now of the New York Jets. Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes rocketed to #10 and Russell Wilson of the Denver Broncos regresses to #11. Only 12 Running Backs are ranked, with no…
The Modern Drummer Magazine has named Alex Van Halen as their latest Hall of Fame inductee. Creating their own Hall of Fame in 1979 with Gene Krupa as its inaugural inductee, the publication has named a single inductee every year, with Van Halen as its new member. Forming multiple bands with his brother Eddie, the band Van Halen rocketed to stardom in the late 70s, with Alex holding the sticks from day one. We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to extend our congratulations to Eddie Van Halen.

RIP: Eddie Meador

Eddie Meador, the top Defensive Back for the Los Angeles Rams during the 1960s, passed away yesterday at the age of 86. Meador, who still holds the Rams record for Interceptions (46), Defensive Fumble Recoveries (18) and Blocked Kicks (10) joined the team as a seventh round pick in 1959 from Arkansas Tech. An immediate starter as a rookie, Meador went to six Pro Bowls (1960 & 1964-68), was a two-time First Team All-Pro (1968 & 1969), and was chosen for the 1960s All-Decade Team. The Rams named him to their team MVP in 1964 and their Defensive Back of…
Including this year, we have awarded the NIHOF NBA Cup by awarding the best five players in the game with descending points, 5-4-3-2-1. Obviously, we can’t watch all the games, but box scores and write ups give an approximate idea as to who were each game’s top five. This year, we decided to the same for the WNBA. The top players for the WNBA NIHOF Cup are not always the best in the league, as injuries keep players out of games, and a premium on staying healthy can help pile up points.  It also does not hurt to be a top…
Steve Harwell, the lead singer of Smash Mouth passed away at the age of 56 following liver failure. He had been battling alcoholism for years, and it took his life yesterday. Using elements of pop, punk, ska and alternative rock, Smash Mouth first hit it big in 1997, with their hit, “Walkin’ on the Sun” that topped the U.S. Alt-Rock Chart. Their second album saw two of their singles reach the mainstream charts, “All Star” and “Then the Morning Comes”. Their last significant hit was a cover of the Monkees’ “I’m A Believer” in 2001. Harwell retired in 2021 from…
It is with great pleasure that we continue the third annual Notinhalloffame MLB Regular Season Cup, and let us explain how this works: With every single regular season game, we anointed the best five players in the game with descending points, 5-4-3-2-1. We knew the following: -       The top players for the MLB NIHOF Cup are not always the best in the league, as injuries keep players out of games, and a premium on staying healthy can help pile up points. It also does not hurt to be a top player on an average or mediocre team, as they can…
1948 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS: Thank you for all of you who have participated in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project, and if you are unaware of what that is, simply, we acted as if the PFHOF had their first class in January of 1946? We have completed the first two years, where a Preliminary, Semi-Final and Final vote for the 1946 Class, which inducted two full classes For “1948” a Preliminary Vote with 127 players whose playing career ended by 1942. We are also following the structure in that players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do…
Regular visitors of Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB. Once that is done, we intend to look at how each team honor their past players, coaches and executives. As such, it is important to us that the New York Mets have announced that next season that they will retire the numbers of Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry. In the 1980s, the Mets had the two most exciting players in the sport in Gooden and Strawberry, and they would lead the team to victory in…
