Not in Hall of Fame News

Follow my blog with BloglovinIt was not that long ago that Baseball Hall of Fame inductees, Goose Gossage and Frank Thomas made comments about suspected PED users entering the Hall of Fame.  Their stance was very strong that players such as Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds had no place in Cooperstown and should not be elected in to the Hall.  Gossage and Thomas however do not have the same opinion on Pete Rose’s candidacy. The former relief pitcher spoke with Platform Media and had the following to say about Pete Rose and a potential Baseball Hall of Fame induction:“It’s…

RIP: Ken Stabler

It was announced that Ken Stabler, famed Oakland Raiders Quarterback, has died today from colon cancer at the age of 69 in Gulfport, Mississippi.  Stabler was a standout at the University of Alabama and would be drafted by the Raiders in the second round in 1968 but would not play for the team until 1970.  Emerging as a classic drop back passer, “The Snake” would win the 1974 MVP award and later in 1976 would win the Offensive Player of the Year.  He would have his greatest moment in Super Bowl XI when he would lead his team to victory. …
It was announced today that Tom Jackson will be receiving the Pete Rozelle Radio Television Award, which is awarded annually to the broadcaster who exemplified “for longtime exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football". Tom Jackson was a fourteen year veteran in the National Football League, playing Linebacker for the Denver Broncos and is a member of their Ring of Fame.  Following his career as a player, he joined ESPN as an analyst and has been with the company ever since. Jackson won the Sports Emmy in 2009 and will receive this honor from the Pro Football Hall…
This retirement caught us a little by surprise. Coveted hockey Free Agent, Martin St. Louis has announced that he is retiring from the game after seventeen seasons.  The question we now always ask is has he done enough to enter the Hockey Hall of Fame? St. Louis was a star player in the NCAA for the Vermont Catamounts where he would set the all time record for points scored for the collegiate hockey power.  Considered undersized at five foot nine, the forward did not receive the attention from the National Hockey League and went undrafted but he would sign with…
While we know that the Basketball Hall of Fame is the most convoluted of the big four of North American sports, we have noticed that based on our Analytics and feedback, more of you seem to be interested in the sport’s hall. Saying that, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are very excited to unveil the next ranking for the Basketball list culminating in the 100 who we feel should be considered for the 2016 Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony.  This was created based on your votes, new eligible players and the removal of those who got in.
It was announced yesterday that Pro Football Hall of Fame Tight End, Charlie Sanders died yesterday at the age of 68.  Sanders was a very popular figure with the Detroit Lions and would spend his entire playing career there.  The Tight End was initially drafted in the third round in 1968 and would go on to make seven Pro Bowls and was also chosen for the 1970’s All-Decade Team.  He would record nearly 5,000 receiving yards, an excellent amount for a Tight End in that era. Sanders would go on to become a successful broadcaster for Detroit Lions broadcasts and…

RIP: Dick Stanfel

Sometimes news gets by us.  Thankfully, we were reminded by one of our bloggers, D.K., that a major figure in Pro Football Folklore passed away, and is worth a few words from us. Last week, Dick Stanfel, a man who is ranked at #30 by us on our Notinhalloffame.com Football list passed away at the age of 87.  Stanfel was a two time NFL Champion (1952 & 1953) with the Detroit Lions and was a member of the 1950’s All-Decade Team.  The Offensive Guard would also be chosen for five Pro Bowls. Following his playing career, Stanfel would enjoy a…
Lost amidst the hoopla of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s announcement of their latest class, the Philadelphia Flyers have announced who the next members of their Hall of Fame will be.  Jim Watson, a member of the Philadelphia Flyers back-to-back Stanley Cup Championship teams from the 1970’s was chosen.  There are many Flyer fans that have called for this induction for years, and the five time All Star and ten year NHL veteran (all with Philadelphia) finished his career with 186 Points and a +295. The Defenceman is joined by Centre, Rod Brind’Amour who plied his trade In Philadelphia for…
Honestly, I am not sure that this is even news.  With the continued downward spiral of TNA wrestling it can be openly questioned that the fourth announced entrant into their Hall of Fame could be their last.  If that is the case, at least they will go down with the man who should have been the first inductee, Jeff Jarrett in their Hall of Fame. Jarrett, a multi time former WCW World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion left the WWE when he held them up (although this has been disputed by Jarrett himself) for a quarter…
