Not in Hall of Fame News

The Cleveland Indians have announced that former Shortstop, Omar Vizquel, will become the 40th member of their club’s Hall of Fame. He will not be going in alone as they will posthumously induct long time broadcaster, Jimmy Dudley. Vizquel played for the Indians between 1994 and 2004. He was named to three All Star Games and won eight Gold Glove Awards while playing in Cleveland. He would have a WAR of 30.1 with 1,616 Hits and 279 Stolen Bases there. He may be a fringe Cooperstown Hall of Fame player, but he does deserve merit in the Cleveland Indians Hall…

Chuck Knoblauch who played Second Base for Minnesota from 1991 to 1997 is the latest addition to their institution which began in 2000. Knoblauch was a very productive player for Minnesota. About eight years ago, World Wrestling Entertainment released “The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior”; a DVD that as you can tell from the title was far from flattering. As outspoken and let’s just say strange as the Warrior has been, for a multi-million dollar company to use their resources to bury a former talent was a questionable decision; even if there was some validity to the claims of those who spoke on the production. At that moment, picturing the Ultimate Warrior in the WWE Hall of Fame was as impossible as picturing...well....Bruno Sammartino in the WWE Hall of Fame! We…
It is time to put the nonsense of the Baseball Hall of Fame continuing fiasco behind us (for awhile anyway). Today, the Football Hall of Fame, which continues to do so much right has announced their finalists and we are going to take a quick look at them in order of their ranking on Notinhalloffame.com.#1 Derrick BrooksBrooks moved into our number spot in his first year of Hall of Fame eligibility, and there remains little reason to think that he is not going to Canton immediately.#3 Marvin HarrisonHarrison is the top rated Wide Receiver in our eyes and is also…
This is definitely our favorite time of year and one of the days that shows the reason why this website was created. Today, the Baseball Hall of Fame have announced the Class of 2014 and there will be three new members as Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas have all been selected on their first year of eligibility. They will join a Tony LaRussa, Joe Torre and Bobby Cox who have already been selected by the Veterans Committee, making this a loaded class and one that should draw significantly better than the sad sack Class of 2013 which inducted…

RIP: Phil Everly

We have lost another musical legend as Phil Everly passed away at the age of 74 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Everly was a heavy smoker in his life which attributed to his severe emphysema and bronchitis. He was one half of the Everly Brothers, who were one of the most popular acts of the 1950’s and one of the most unique at the time. The duo mastered two part harmonies and perhaps better than anyone else did at the time combined the Country Sound with the new Rock and Roll style. This gave them a broader appeal than most…
Normally we don’t report on the happenings of the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame, but we thought that the 59th entry was worth noting.Yesterday, at the World Junior Hockey Championships prior to a game in which the host nation, Sweden routed Norway, Mats Sundin was honored as the next member. The Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame is barely three years old, but they have moved quickly to build a Hall of Fame list worth looking at. This marks the “hat trick” for Sundin in regards to Hall of Fame institutions. Sundin was selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in…
Tony Gonzalez played his final game today in the National Football League today, ending what should be a Hall of Fame career. Gonzalez joined the Atlanta Falcons four seasons ago in hopes of playing for a Super Bowl winner, but unfortunately, the Falcons failed to get there, and in his last year the team was decimated injuries and finished with a losing record.Gonzalez played both Football and Basketball at the University of California. He elected to focus on the gridiron and forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft, where he was taken in the First Round…
