Chicago White Sox player, Adam LaRoche surprised Major League Baseball with his surprise retirement this week, though the reason he did so was that team president, Ken Williams, had asked LaRoche to curb the amount of time that his 14 year old son was spending with the team.  The White Sox did not have a policy on the amount of time that players children could spend with the team and the edict by Williams caught LaRoche and his teammates off guard, as his teammates threatened to boycotts today’s Spring Training Game in support of LaRoche, who by retiring suddenly is…

The next inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame has been announced, and as had been leaked earlier, Jacqueline Moore, professionally known in the WWE as Jacqueline will become the eighth female to enter the Hall. Known for her toughness, Jackie first learned to wrestle in 1988 and cut her teeth in the World Class territory as “Sweet Georgia Brown”, but it was in the early 90’s in the USWA in the Texas VS Tennessee feud where she really gained attention. It was announced that Keith Emerson, from the successful Progressive Rock group, Emerson, Lake and Palmer passed away at the age of 71 due to a self-inflicted gunshot in his home in Santa Monica, California.  Emerson was regarded as one of the best keyboardist player in rock and roll history, first as a member of the Nice, and then with ELP, the perfect vehicle for him (along with Greg Lake and Carl Palmer) to showcase his talent.  After a spectacular set at the Isle of Wight festival, ELP was signed with Atlantic and would put out three Prog Rock staples,…

This has gone relatively unnoticed but another former Pro Bowl Quarterback has called an end to his playing career.  Matt Hasselbeck has announced his retirement from the game and will begin work as an analyst for ESPN. The International Tennis Hall of Fame has announced that Justine Henin and Marat Safin have been selected to join their institution.  From Belgium, Henin was a seven time Grand Slam winner, including four wins in the French Open.  She enjoyed 117 weeks ranked #1 in women’s tennis and was instrumental in helping her country win their first Fed Cup Championship.  She holds the distinction of being the first Belgian in the Hall.
