Not in Hall of Fame News

Returning to the Toronto Blue Jays for a one day contract, Roy Halladay officially announced his retirement today from the world of Baseball.  “Doc” called it a career at the age of 36, where he won two Cy Young Awards, one with Toronto in 2003 and the second with Philadelphia in 2010.  Halladay finishes with a 203-105 record which may not be a huge win total, but over a sixteen year career in this era is very impressive. Seven times, he led the League in Complete Games, four times in Innings Pitched, once in WHIP, and was an All Star…
No matter what happens with the Players Vote, we at least know that we have some significant additions to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.  The Veterans Committee have unanimously selected three great Baseball Managers to the Hall with Bobby Cox, Joe Torre and Tony LaRussa.Cox was a very successful Manager with Toronto and Atlanta, winning over 2,500 Games and winning the World Series with the Braves in 1995.  As his top two pitchers with Atlanta are on their first year on the ballot (Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine) it could be quite a tribute to Georgia…

The Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot is officially out, and the most talked about Hall of Fame in sports is set for another round of the same two debates that always seem to occur:How much should sabremetrics matter in comparison to traditional statistics?Should those who took or are suspected of taking Performance Enhancing be banned from the Hall of Fame?We have talked about these issues constantly here, and currently another slew of articles in print and online will continue those arguments. Rather than debate it, let’s just mention who is on the ballot in order of their rank here:#1C: Barry…
The world of Professional Wrestling has lost a legend today. French Canadian superstar, Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon passed away after a long bout of declining health. He was 84 years old. Vachon competed in the 1948 Olympics and won the British Gold Medal in 1950 in Greco Roman competition. The Mad Dog turned pro, and with his shaved head, black goatee and missing teeth he became a superstar in the industry.Vachon was not tall, but his pit bull stature, brawling skills and legitimate wrestling skills made him more than a credible worker and a multi time champion in many promotions.…

The world of American Football lost another legend in Mike McCormack. He entered the Football Hall of Fame in 1984 after a great career in the National Football League. He was named the organization’s…
Five time Pro Bowl selection and #91 rank of our Notinhalloffame.com football list, Todd Christensen passed away at the age of 57 due to complications from a liver transplant. The former Running Back from BYU transitioned slowly to the Tight End position, but once he acclimated to the spot, he was one of the NFL’s most productive players in a five year stretch in the 1980’s. Christensen led the National Football League in Receptions twice (1983 & 1985) and set a record both times for catches by a Tight End. He was selected as First Team All Pro twice and…
