In 2010, the Black College Hall of Fame first came into fruition, honoring College Football players who plied their craft at historically Black Colleges in the United States.  Today, they have announced the class of 2015, which we thought it would be fun to take a look at. A few days ago, we uploaded those who are eligible for the Football Hall of Fame in 2016.  They are ready for you to cast a vote and give your opinions, and we will remain up until we pluck the top eligible for our Notinhalloffame.com Football list. Recently, the National Baseball Hall of Fame announced this year’s Golden Era Ballot.  The Golden Era Committee replaced the Veteran’s Committee in 2010 and specifically looks at the players/contributors from 1947 to 1972.  This vote takes place every three years, and 75 percent is required of the 16 members to earn induction.  In 2011, the first year instituted, the late Ron Santo was chosen. When you think of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the National Football League franchise with the most Super Bowl Championships, you would almost automatically think that they would have the most, or close to the most retired numbers in the NFL.  The reality is that they are not even close. RIP: Bob Geigel

It was announced yesterday that former wrestler and promoter, Bob Geigel passed away due to Alzheimer’s Disease.  He was 90 years old. Geigel attended the University serving his country in World War II.  A natural athlete, Geigel excelled in amateur wrestling, so much so that he placed third in the NCAA National Championship.  His size and acumen made him a natural to join the professional ranks and before long he was competing in Missouri and Amarillo. Kevin Youkilis announced today that he is retiring today after a career that saw him win two World Series Rings with the Boston Red Sox. We have been reporting often about the Country Music Hall of Fame, and their constant new exhibits that they have been implementing.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has not been ushering in new exhibits nearly as often, but when they do, you know it will be big. RIP: Gordy Soltau

It was announced yesterday that Gordy Soltau, a member of the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame passed away yesterday at the age of 89 of natural causes. Soltau, a long time resident of the Bay Area, played his entire pro career with the 49ers (1950-58), playing at both the Wide Receiver and Place Kicker position.  A three time Pro Bowl Selection, Soltau’s best season was in 1951, where he finished second in both Receptions and Receiving Yards and when he retired, he was the all time leading scorer for San Francisco.  In his career, Soltau would catch 249 passes…
