Not in Hall of Fame News

While he last played in the NBA in 2018, Zach Randolph has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball. Playing his college ball at Michigan State, “Z-Bo” was the 19thOverall Pick in 2001, when he was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers.  The Power Forward became a fulltime starter in his third year (2003-04), where he broke out with a double-double season of 20.1 Points and 10.5 Rebounds per Game. For his efforts, he would win the NBA Most Improved Player of the Year.   Similar seasons followed, and he was traded to the New York Knicks on a draft day deal in…
As much as we love Halls of Fame, we have often been critical about the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.  One of our criticisms is that the powers that be in Springfield are not very transparent, and does not even provide even the briefest bios of their many candidates.  We are going to provide more context those who will be considered for Hall of Fame Class of 2020.   North America Committee Nominations: Rick Adelman(Coach):  Adelman played eight years in the NBA, and would become the Head Coach of Chemekata CC in 1977.  He served in that role until 1983, when he joined the Portland…
In April, we did our standard recap where we wished a player the best in their post-playing endeavors, with the individual person in question being Marshawn Lynch.  Let’s retract that as “Beast Mode” is back. Lynch resigned with the Seattle Seahawks yesterday, and the five-time Pro Bowl Selection comes back with “unfinished business” as he said in a recent YouTube video.   We know what the unfinished business is.  At Super Bowl XLIX, the Seahawks were driving late in the game and were on the one-yard line.  It was expected that Lynch would get the ball, but instead a passing play was called that resulted…
The NFL season is not yet over, but we have a significant retirement that was announced today.  Darren Sproles of the Philadelphia Eagles, who is out for the rest of the season with a hip injury, announced that he will officially call it a career. A fourth round pick from Kansas State in 2005, Sproles was mostly used as a Kick Returner as a rookie.  He missed all of 2006 due to an ankle injury, and returned as the team’s primary returner, a role he held until 2010.  The Chargers would gradually use him more in their offense, and he would see a…
We have another retirement in Baseball to look at as Ian Kinsler has announced that he is retiring from the game.  The San Diego Padre cited issues with a cervical disk that ended his 2018 season. The Second Baseman began his Major League career in 2006 with the Texas Rangers, where he finished seventh in Rookie of the Year voting.  Kinsler played for Texas until 2013, and he would be named an All-Star on three occasions, and twice he had 30 Home Runs campaigns for the Rangers.  He joined the Detroit Tigers for the 2014 Season, and went to his fourth All-Star Game.  With…

In a recent interview with Fox News, Todd Rundgren was asked about his second Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination.  His reaction bordered on apathy, yet respectful of the desire of his fans, a trope that we see often from many in his position. He had this to say: Fox News: “When it comes to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, some artists are all for it. Others feel it’s a popularity contest. What’s your stance?”Rundgren: “Well, I’ve never taken it seriously for one thing... When they decided that this was a good idea, I already had like three careers *laughs*. So…

RIP: Rene Goulet

It was announced today by the Cauliflower Alley Club, that former WWWF World Tag Team Champion, Rene Goulet passed away at the age of 86.  Goulet had passed away in May of this year, but the family has only made the announcement of his death public today. Less than an hour ago, it was announced that the New World Order (Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman) will be entering the WWE Hall of Fame.  It has how been announced that Dave Bautista will be joining them in the Hall.  Dave Bautista cut his teeth in the WWE farm promotion, Ohio Valley Wrestling as “Leviathan”, and the 300 pound behemoth would be brought up shortly as “Deacon Batista”, the henchman of D-Von Dudley when he was doing his reverend gimmick.  That didn’t last, and he was moved to the RAW brand and placed in a faction with…
This was early. We haven’t gotten to the Royal Rumble yet, and it has been announced that the New World Order will be entering the WWE Hall of Fame.  The announcement came from ESPN.  The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on April 2, 2020, as part of the Wrestlemania 36 weekend.  While there were many members of the NWO, only Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan and Syxx (Sean Waltman) will be inducted. The New World Order angle tipped the ratings war in favor of World Championship Wrestling for nearly two years. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash appeared on WCW television as…
