It was not that long ago that we unveiled the latest revisions on the Notinhalloffame Rock and Roll Hall of Fame list of 500 acts worthy of consideration to the Hall. For us, that is one down, and many to go! We are proud to announce the revised list for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
As North American sports fans know, the Baseball Hall is not only the most known of the major Halls of Fame, but is easily the most controversial. Months ago, headlines were made when Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens failed to get inducted. It was not that they were not statistically worthy, as the two brought to the table a collection of records and awards that have few equals. They were initially (and likely to be continually) rejected due to their linkage to Performance Enhancing Drugs. This is a boat they share with Rafael Palmeiro, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa; all men who at one point were all considered Hall of Fame locks.
We are not going to reiterate our Hall of Fame position here on the PED users and suspected PED users here; as those who have read our commentaries know our position on the matter. Today, it is about looking forward to the next batch of eligible entries, and it is a strong group.
As nobody of note entered the Hall, the top of the list looks the same. We still have three number ones; that includes Pete Rose at #1A and “Shoeless” Joe Jackson at #1B. Neither is eligible, though we do wish that the Hall of Fame would reconsider their stance on both men; though we do understand the arguments against them. Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens return at #1 and #2 respectively, and as noted, we don’t see their status changing anytime soon.
This leads to the revisions, which is getting harder and harder by the year; though not exclusively because of the PED question. Sabremetrics have transformed many opinions, and as much as there are those who rely solely upon them, there are those who prefer the traditional stats and the emotional moments that sabremetrics do not always reflect. Basically we are trying to combine ALL statistics and of course the votes of all of you. We think it creates a balanced list, but certainly one that we do not expect everyone to agree with. Let’s put it this way…..those involved do not agree with each other on much of it……and it is a lot of fun debating this. We think we can all agree on that!
The new crop of players we have selected for Hall of Fame consideration naturally contain first year possibilities and a few others we have taken a second look at.

Our work on the existing Hockey Hall of Fame Classes continue. We have now made our way to the year of 1971. This was a very good Class, led by Terry Sawchuk, one of the greatest Goaltenders of all time. The complete class includes:

2013 Basketball HOF Class is set

Although it will not be official until Monday, it appears that the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2013 is set. We have no problem announcing that this is a class that makes us very happy, as our top three candidates will be inducted.
This includes first year nominee, and our number one candidate, Gary Payton. His defensive acumen made him a star, and the Glove deserves to enter immediately. The number two and three candidates on our list, Bernard King and Spencer Haywood, had a much longer wait for their call, which for both has been a long time coming.
They will be joined by college coach superstar, Rick Pitino, and former college coaches, Guy Lewis (Houston) and Jerry Tarkanian (Fresno State & UNLV)
We congratulate this latest class, and will get to work on our 2014 list.
Gary Payton reported to be in the Basketball HOF

Although it is not officially confirmed, it has been reported that Gary Payton will be selected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The official announcement will come on Monday, but if accurate, we would like to congratulate the Glove for this deserved accomplishment.
