The British band, Simply Red was a major force in England with their sophisticated brand of Blue Eyed Soul. As amazing as their sound was they were criticized by some as their greatest hits were often covers of older Soul songs but they definitely put their own spin on it and with some American success they could receive a brief look from the nominating committee.

Simply Red have got some very catchy, silky-smooth numbers, and Mick Hucknall is an incredibly soulful singer. But they've never dominated, and I think they've always been a tad more popular in the UK than they have been in America. Plus, I think they've always been seen as a lightweight band, which doesn't help their cause with Hall Of Fame voters. But ya never know what tomorrow may bring! (One more thing: Mick Hucknall IS Simply Red, really. If by some miracle Simply Red should get inducted, just give the award to Hucknall and you're done! But I'm not holding my breath for it to happen.)
