368. Nazareth

The Scottish Hard Rock group Nazareth had a great run in the 70’s with some driving Rock songs and a Proto Power Ballads. There is not a Classic Rock station in North America that doesn’t play their songs. Nazareth did achieve a level of success that could potentially garner them a look from the Hall and there is no doubt that straight up Rock bands have a place in the Hall. There is however a long line up of bands like Nazareth and the question is whether they could overtake the others of their ilk who may be ahead of them.

now your messing with a son of a bitch! How can they not already be in. If Nazareth is not what the hall is looking for then screw the hall. They are the very definition of a hard working rock band who had grat success (mayb not the Stoness level) and who every person that grew up in the 70's knows was one hell of a band. Their legacy has endured as has their classic songs. Come on how many other bands have a legitimate classic album that is easily one of the 20 best eock albums ever produced. And a slew of hits that everyone from 10 to 60 knows by heart. And don't forget their unknown stuff is pretty damn good as well. Put them in. They deserve it. Right next to Thin Lizzy! If these two bands don't get in the next few years they should scrap the whole concept and start over.

As much as I loves me some Hair of the Dog, I'm not sure Naz deserves a plaque in the hall. Mention? Definitely.

Heck, they can even play Dog and Love Hurts over the speaker system as you stroll through the 70's Classic Rock wing, but I don't think they get a plaque.

The 1960’s Chicago Soul scene saw a lot of artists emerge who had a lot of grit and Southern influence. Major Lance was a little different as his blend of Soul was exuberant and fun. In his heyday, Lance was singing songs written by the legendary Curtis Mayfield and with solid production behind him, more joyous Soul could not be…
