The Songwriters Hall of Fame have announced their latest Hall of Fame Class and it is certainly a diverse group of inductees. Inducted this year is Cyndi Lauper, a star of the 1980’s and was a feminist icon of the decade. Her biggest songs, Time After Time and True Colors have been often covered and propelled her stardom and as a respected songwriter. The late Jerry Garcia and lyricist, Robert Hunter from the Grateful Dead, will also be joining the Hall. The Dead are already members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hopefully in a year’s time, we will be able to unveil our ranking of all four major North American sports franchise and how they retire numbers or have their own Hall of Fame. Basically it will be a ranking of post career accolades. It is NBA All Star Game Weekend and with the sporting world tuned into the world of hoops it is the perfect time for them to announce the Finalists for the Basketball Hall of Fame. Another major retirement has taken place in the National Hockey League and in our estimation it has not received the press it should have. Evgeni Nabokov, who was just traded back to the San Jose Sharks, retired after fourteen seasons in the NHL, and after a return to San Jose, where he played for ten years and holds numerous goaltending records has decided to call it a career. It is a sad day in the National Football League as the founder of NFL Films and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee, Steve Sabol passed away in his home in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 98. It appeared that this was going to be made official at some point in 2015, but this July 18th, Brett Favre will be inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and later in the year, his name and number four will be placed on the hallowed wall in Lambeau Field. It may not have received the ceremony it deserved outside of San Diego but former Pro Bowl Center, Nick Hardwick has decided to call it a career. The announcement came a couple of days ago, and a look at his career shows that Hardwick played 136 Games under the Quarterback for the San Diego Chargers and started every single one if them.
