gold star for USAHOF

RIP: Hector "Macho" Camacho

The world of boxing lost a major star as Hector “Macho” Camacho passed away today. The former four time champion was shot days ago in the face which turned out to be fatal.

Camacho fought virtually everyone of note in the lighter divisions. His biggest win was a complete dismantling of Sugar Ray Leonard that put the latter in permanent retirement. Camacho also fought Felix Trinidad, Oscar De La Hoya and Julio Cesar Chavez and was had his last fight in 2010, which is why he is not yet eligible for the Boxing Hall of Fame, which requires a boxer to be at least retired for five years.

It is a sad ending for a great legend. Hector Camacho fought his way through the streets, could never escape them. The flashy competitor likely never wanted to.
