Not in Hall of Fame News

As we continue or slow process of ranking the all-time Top 50 of each major North American franchise, we also have to constantly update the ones we already have. The one that we have done this time is revising the Detroit Tigers up to accomplishments up to the end of 2016 season. In this particular case, we did not just adjust everything based on what transpired in 2015. The way in which we determine our baseball lists are as follows: Sabremetric tallies while with that team, mostly WAR. Traditional metrics and how they finished in their respective league overall. Playoff accomplishment.…
Regular visitors to Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly putting together the best 50 players of all time for each team from the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association and the National Football League. Once that is complete, our next task is to tackle how each of those teams honor their former players/executives in terms of franchise halls of fames, retired numbers etc.One of the teams that we are in the preliminary stages of selecting our top 50 is the Cincinnati Reds, who announced six former players on their modern era ballot. The nominees are as follows:Aaron Boone,…
It is another big day in relation to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the Bobby Beathard has been named this year’s Contributor Finalist.Beathard’s career began with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1963 as a Scout and while he would leave the team briefly to work directly for the American Football League but would return to the Chiefs and during their 1966 AFL Championship Season. He would later scout for the Atlanta Falcons from 1968 to 1971 and would join the Miami Dolphins in ’72 as their Director of Player Personnel and would win two Super Bowl Rings in…
We consider this a great day at Notinhalloffame.com!Jerry Kramer, who we currently have ranked #2 on our Football list has been named a Senior Nominee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This is a long time coming as Kramer has been a multi-time Hall of Fame nominee and is the only man who has been named one of the greatest 50 NFL players of all time not to be enshrined in Canton. Playing his entire career for the Green Bay Packers, Kramer was the anchor of the famed “Packer Sweep” and a member of Green Bay’s first two Super Bowl…
Well, we have another sudden retirement worth talking discussing.13 days after he signed a one year contract with the Buffalo Bills, Wide Receiver Anquan Boldin has announced his retirement from professional football so that he focus on his humanitarian efforts. He had this to say in a statement to ESPN:"Football has afforded me a platform throughout my career to have a greater impact on my humanitarian work, and at this time, I feel drawn to make the larger fight for human rights a priority. My life's purpose is bigger than football."How can you not respect that? Especially considering how much…
It was not that long ago that the Hockey Hall of Fame selected four former National Hockey League players to their institution, all of which were ranked in our top ten on our Notinhalloffame.com Hockey List. They are Teemu Selanne (#1), Paul Kariya (#3), Mark Recchi (#4) and Dave Andreychuk (#10). As such it is time for us to present our new list of those to consider for the Hockey Hall of Fame for 2018.When putting together any new list we obviously remove the recently inducted but add on those who we consider worthy. We also look at the opinions…

Nugent Vs Crosby?

We love a good feud…especially when it is over the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While it was always safe to assume that Ted Nugent and David Crosby were never likely to share a stage, it is certainly a lot more likely now.Recently, Nugent stated that his omission from the Rock Hall stemmed solely from his participation with the National Rifle Association.  When a fan asked Crosby on Twitter as to whether that was the reason why the Motor City Madman was omitted his response was not exactly kind:“No the asshole just isn’t good enough”You didn’t think Nugent would let…
Yes we know how slow a process this is!It has been awhile since we uploaded our last Top 50 players of a major franchise, but we are ready to do so again with a look at the greatest players in New York Mets history. For one of the most popular franchises of Major League Baseball, the actual success of the organization is not that strong with only two World Series wins to their credit.  The entire list of our Top 50 New York Mets can be found here, but in the meantime (as we always do) the top five are listed…
Is Ted Nugent a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer? If you ask the Motor City Madman, he would certainly say yes but his association with the NRA is why he has been omitted. This was essentially what he said when he was interviewed by Albany Q103:“Jan Wenner, the founder of Rolling Stone and the boss hog at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he hates freedom, he hates the Second Amendment, he hates me, because I’m on the Board of Directors – quite proudly – of the National Rifle Association…so that’s the only reason I’m not in the Rock and Roll…
With another day passing, we have another significant retirement to talk about. In a fitting, yet sponsored post from Kingsford charcoal, the 300 plus pound Nose Tackle, Vince Wilfork announced his retirement from the National Football League.  Mostly known for his lengthy run (11 seasons) with the New England Patriots, Wilfork went on a four year run from 2009 to 2012 where he was chosen for the Pro Bowl.  This is in addition to a selection in 2007 and four appearances on All-Pro squads.  He is also a two time Super Bowl Champion with New England, earning a ring in 2004…
