In addition to the five Modern-Era Inductees, a special “Blue Ribbon Panel” will name 10 Seniors, 3 Contributors and 2 Coaches for the Centennial Class. After being dormant since 2012, the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame has announced their newest Class.  They will be officially inducted on November 1, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The new class consists of: 1998 Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team:  This was the first time that Women’s Hockey was featured in the Olympics and the U.S. defeated the favored Canadian team in the Gold Medal Game. Candace Cable (Paralympics): Cable would become the first person to medal in both the Summer and Winter Olympics.  She has won 12 medals, eight of which were Gold. After digesting the results of the FIBA World Basketball Championships, we noticed that not very many people are talking about how this could relate to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.  People should, and we certainly noticed because that is what we do!  Considering the Hall does pay attention to International accomplishments and has a committee for that category alone, the events of the past few weeks will matter. Days after the passing of Eddie Money, the Rock and Roll world has lost another of its brethren as Rik Ocasek has passed away at the age of 75.  He was found dead in his New York City apartment.  No cause of death has been announced. Ocasek and his long-time friend and musical collaborator, Ben Orr, would found The Cars in 1976 and along with Greg Hawkes, Elliot Easton and Dave Robinson had a band that was about to mesh musical styles.  Combining pop, synth and album rock, their eponymous release generated hits like “Just What I Needed”, “My Best Friends Girl” and…

We have another retirement to talk about as Shaun Livingston has announced that his NBA career is coming to an end at the age of 34. The 4th Overall Pick from the 2004 Draft, Livingston played his first three seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers before suffering a knee injury that would take him out of the 2007-08 season.  He would go into full journeyman mode after that, playing for Miami, Oklahoma City, Washington, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Brooklyn before signing with the Golden State Warriors before the 2014-15 season.   Livingston found a home in Golden State coming off of the…
