Not in Hall of Fame News

RIP: Sam Jones

The Basketball world lost a legend as Hall of Fame inductee, Sam Jones, passed away today at the age of 88. Playing at North Carolina Central, Jones was not highly recruited on the NBA level, but Red Auerbach took a chance on him after being told by his scouts that this was, in fact, the best player in the state.  The gamble proved fruitful as the versatile Jones would prove to be one of the best clutch shooters of his era, so much so, that he was nicknamed "Mr. Clutch." Jones' shooting skills and his smooth shot would find many…
Two Days ago, we here at Notinhalloffame.com had our mock Pro Football Hall of Fame Committee, where we debated and advanced the 15 we felt should be this year’s Finalists.  As much as we would love to be the deciders, we are not, but the process is always fun, and let’s get to was chosen by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Finalists pared down from 26 Semi-Finalists, who were chosen from 126 Preliminary Candidates.    They are: Jared Allen: Defensive End:  2004-07 Kansas City Chiefs, 2008-13 Minnesota Vikings, 2014-15 Chicago Bears & 2016 Carolina Panthers.  This is Allen’s second year of eligibility, and…
Seattle Mariners Third Baseman, Kyle Seager, announced his abrupt retirement today, ending speculation that he might sign with his brother, Corey, in Texas. An 11-year veteran, Seager debuted with Seattle in 2011, and never played for any other MLB team.  A solid slugger, Seager had over 20 Home Runs eight straight years (2012-19), and smacked 35 last year, a career-high, but also had a career-low .212 Batting Average.  He retired with 242 Home Runs, 1,395 Hits with a Slash Line of .251/.321/.442. Seager is eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2027, though is unlikely to gain induction. We here at…
Yes, we know that this is taking a while! As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team.  That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity.  As such, we are very happy to present our pre-2022 revision of our top 50 Colorado Rockies. As for all of our top 50 players in baseball we look at the following:  1.  Advanced Statistics. 2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National League.  3.  Playoff accomplishments. 4.  Their…

RIP: John Madden

As we were preparing for Notinhalloffame.com Mock Committee to name our HOF Semi-Finalists, it was announced that Hall of Fame Coach, John Madden passed away.  He was 85 years old. Madden worked his way up the coaching ranks, first becoming the Raiders Linebackers Coach in 1967, and ascending to Head Coach two years later.  In that capacity, Madden won Super Bowl XI, and had a coaching record of 103-32-7.   Retiring as a coach in 1978, Madden joined the broadcast booth for CBS, eventually teaming with Pat Summerall, where they would be the network’s prime announcers.  When CBS lost football to FOX, both he…
We here at Notinhalloffame.com thought it would be fun to take a look at the major awards in North American team sports and see how it translates into Hall of Fame potential. Needless to say, different awards in different sports yield hall of fame potential.  In basketball, the team sport with the least number of players on a roster, the dividend for greatness much higher.  In baseball, it is not as much as a great individual season does not have the same impact. Last time, we looked at the MLB All-Star Game MVP.  This time, we return to Basketball, with the NBA Sixth…

It is a tradition that dates back to 1945: the annual induction class to the NHL Hall of Fame. Aside from winning the Stanley Cup, it is the ultimate honor for players of the game and a way to immortalize themselves amongst the greatest players to ever hit the ice. The Hockey Hall of Fame enshrines a maximum of four players every year along with spots for builders as well. It has also recently started to induct female hockey players. The Hockey Hall of Fame has 289 players inducted which include eight female players and more being added each year! Next year’s…
