Seriously this blew my mind when I saw it in my news feed this morning.

If you can check this out:

That’s right.

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, first introduced on the Muppet Show as the house band, has made their first live performance after 40 years of existence, which took place at in San Francisco at the Outside Lands Festival.

It was a set of five songs, and one befitting the look of this group that hasn’t aged a bit since we first saw them 40 years ago.

That set was:

“Can You Picture That?”, an original song they had on The Muppet Movie.

The following were four covers:

“San Francisco”, a song by the Indie Pop band, The Mowgli’s, originally released in 2010.

“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, who like the Mowgli’s are from Los Angeles.  This went to #18 in the Alternative Charts in 2010.

“Ophelia” by the Band.

“With a Little Help From My Friends”, by the Beatles, which was aided by the Oakland Tabernacle Choir.

For those not aware of this festival, this is a three day musical celebration, which featured heavyweight acts, Radiohead and LCD Soundsystem, so this is not like Dr. Teeth and company weren’t playing with the likes of Raffi.

Why do we care about this?

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are Semi-Finalists for our Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Of note, Dr. Teeth came in 4th last year in voting for the inaugural class and are strong contenders to get in this year.  It remains to be seen whether this will help them make our little institution.
