While it might be easy to label Nat Moore as an offensive compiler, let’s just say that he compiled a lot!
Many in Cleveland were stunned when they traded Wide Receiver, Paul Warfield to the Miami Dolphins after the 1969 season. As a rookie in 1964, he helped Cleveland win the NFL Championship, and he was coming off two straight Pro Bowl appearances. The Browns got the third overall pick in the deal, which they used on Purdue Quarterback, Mike Phipps, who did play for 12 years, but is considered to be unremarkable. As for Warfield, he was about the have the most productive stint of his NFL career.
Ed Newman had to be thrilled when he was drafted by the Super Bowl VII Champions, the Miami Dolphins. The sixth rounder from Duke did not play that much as a rookie, but he was a member of the Super Bowl VIII winning team.
When Bill Stanfill played at the University of Georgia, he helped the Bulldogs win the Cotton Bowl, and as a Senior he was an All-American and the winner of the Outland Trophy as the top interior lineman in college football. The Miami Dolphins would land him with the 11th Overall Pick in 1969, and Stanfill would be a part of the budding defense that would become a National Football League power.
