Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists and consistently look to update them when necessary and based on necessity. As such, we are delighted to present our post-2023 revision of our top 50 Detroit Lions.

As for all of our top 50 players in football, we look at the following:

1.  Advanced Statistics.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in the National Football League.

3.  Playoff accomplishments.

4.  Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles that are not reflected in a stat sheet.

Last year, the Lions made it to the NFC Championship Final and have finally built a contender after decades of mediocrity.  That being said, this is one of the oldest teams in the NFL, and with their stars being so young, none of them broke into the Top 50.  Nevertheless, we always acknowledge that we took the previous season into account.

As always, we present our top five, which (obviously) saw no changes:

1. Barry Sanders
2. Joe Schmidt
3. Bobby Layne
4. Dutch Clark
5. Lem Barney

You can find the entire list here.

We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.

48. Micah Parsons

The National Football League has seen a few Linebackers who became instant stars, and in 2021, Micah Parsons was added to that elite list.

Parsons was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2019, and the Cowboys were fortunate he was still available when they selected the Penn State product 12th overall in the 2021 draft and captured the player who became the most versatile Linebacker in football.

Parsons adapted immediately to the highest level of football, showing that regardless of scheme, he could deliver.  As an exemplary pass rusher (he already has 40.5 Sacks), Parsons’s speed and explosiveness allow him to shift effortlessly in the interior.  Parsons has been named to the Pro Bowl in all three of his NFL campaigns, and the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year has finished second, second, and third, respectively, for the Defensive Player of the Year.

He enters this star-studded list despite playing only four years.  That is how good Parsons has been.

Arriving in Mile High as a Third Round Pick from Boston College, Justin Simmons won a starting job at Safety in his second season and settled in as the Broncos Free Safety from 2018 to 2023.

Simmons proved himself to be a true ball-hawk, and his penchant for deep coverage netted him two Pro Bowls (2020 & 2023), and he was the league leader in picks in 2022 (6).  He was also a four-time AP Second Team All-Pro with the Broncos four times.

After the 2023 Season, despite his proven skill, Simmons was waived as a cost-cutting move.

He had 30 Interceptions and 604 Combined Tackles for Denver.

Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists and consistently look to update them when necessary and based on necessity. As such, we are delighted to present our post-2023 revision of our top 50 Cleveland Browns.

Last year, the Browns returned to the playoffs but could not get past their first game.  There were no new entries and two elevations in our Top 50.

As always, we present our top five, which saw no changes:

1. Jim Brown
2. Otto Graham
3. Joe Thomas
4. Lou Groza
5. Ozzie Newsome

You can find the entire list here.

Reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett rocketed to #12 from #32.

Left Tackle Joel Bitonio, on a six-year Pro Bowl streak, climbed to #18 from #24.

Notably, Running Back Nick Chubb remains at #44.

We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.
