2024: Pre-Season Rank: #134.  Peak Period 2021-24*

Doesn’t it feel like Patrick Surtain II knows what the Wide Receiver’s route is before he does?

Surtain has been a godsend for the Denver Broncos, who desperately needed a building block in their defense.  Breaking out in his sophomore year, Surtain ran away with the Defensive Player of the Year last season, and enters this season as the CB1 of the NFL.  He jumped 60 spots on this rank this year, and another 30 after five months of football is on the table.

*Surtain has only played four seasons.

2023 Pre-Season Rank #128.  Peak Period 2020-24

A four-time Pro Bowl Selection, Denzel Ward has sneakily been one of the most efficient Cornerbacks in the NFL.  Still in his prime, Ward has time to make a Hall of Fame case.

1966 PRELIMINARY RESULTS:

Thank you to all who participated in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are still determining what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946.

We have completed the first 18 years thus far.

For “1966,” a Preliminary Vote with close to 100 players whose playing career ended by 1959. We are also following the structure in that players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool.

Each voter was asked to select 25 names from the preliminary list, and the top 25 vote-getters were named Semi-Finalists.

A week later, the voters will be asked to pick 15 names from the 25 Semi-Finalists, and next after, they will pick five from the remaining 15. We will continue this process weekly until we catch up to the current year.

Please note that a significant change occurred “years ago,” allowing voters to submit less than the allotted spots.

We also had a vote to see if you wanted to change the entrant parameters.

You voted with over 80 percent to keep as is with the Top Five entering providing they get 50% of the final vote.

Next week, we will announce the Semi-Finalists for the 1966 Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project.

2024: Pre-Season Rank: #127.  Peak Period 2019-23.

Trey Hendrickson came into his own in his last season in New Orleans (2020) with a 13.5 Sack/12 TFL year, but once he joined the Cincinnati Bengals, he became a defensive juggernaut.

The Bengals were defensively an issue in 2024, but Trey Hendrickson was carrying the squad, performing so well that he led the NFL in Sacks (17.5) and was second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.  Henrickson has been a Pro Bowler all four of his Cincinnati years, and based on the off-field negotiations in 2025, the Bengals are hoping that he can lead the Southern Ohio to the promised land.
