The Super Bowl is tomorrow and for Hall of Fame purposes this means one thing to us. The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced the latest class to their prestigious institution.
As expected first year eligible Quarterback, Brett Favre, has been chosen. A Super Bowl Champion with the Green Bay Packers, Favre set numerous passing records and for years was the most recognizable player in the NFL. Favre is a three time league MVP.
The Offensive Line has seen another one of their fraternity chosen with former St. Louis Ram, Orlando Pace. Pace is also a Super Bowl Champion and was chosen for seven consecutive Pro Bowls.
The Indianapolis Colts will be well represented. Wide Receiver, Marvin Harrison, who entered his third year of eligibility, has been chosen. Harrison was a thirteen year veteran, all with Indianapolis. He is an eight time Pro Bowl Selection and a Super Bowl Champion with over 13,000 Yards Receiving.
Harrison’s Super Bowl winning coach, Tony Dungy has also been chosen. Dungy has a coaching record of 139 and 69 and also has a Super Bowl Ring as a Defensive Back with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970’s. He is currently a popular studio announcer for NBC’s National Football League Sunday Night telecasts.
Kevin Greene, one of the most feared pass rushers of all time, has also been chosen. Greene finished his career with 160 Sacks, a number that puts him third all-time in that category.
Both Senior Nominees, Quarterback, Ken Stabler and Offensive Guard, Dick Stanfel have also been chosen.
The home of Super Bowl 50, San Francisco, will see their popular former owner, Edward DeBartolo Jr. also inducted. DeBartolo Jr. owned the San Francisco 49ers for twenty-three seasons with the team capturing five Super Bowl during that tenure.
Morten Andersen, Steve Atwater, Don Coryell, Terrell Davis, Alan Faneca, Joe Jacoby, John Lynch, Edgerrin James, Terrell Owens and Kurt Warner were not chosen this year.

RIP: Maurice White

We lost another musical legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer today.
At the age of 74, Maurice White, the founder, and lead singer and songwriter for the legendary band, Earth, Wind & Fire died last night in his sleep.
Earth, Wind & Fire would become one of the most successful bands of the 1970’s, and as the heart and leader of the group is arguably one of the most successful musicians of all time. The band would have six top ten albums and seven top ten singles, most notably “Boogie Wonderland”, “Shining Star”, “September” and “Let’s Groove”.
In addition to taking Earth, Wind & Fire to the disco/funk/R&B stratosphere, White took the careers of the Emotions and Deniece Williams to the next level and was a key collaborator for artists like the Weather Report, Neil Diamond and Jennifer Holliday.
Maurice White was forced to leave as an active performer from Earth, Wind & Fire due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease, but he still remained in the background as the head of the band. He would still remain active as a producer and a songwriter.
We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to offer our condolences to the friends and family of Maurice White.

Regular visitors know that we have been (slowly but surely) working on the Top 50 North American Franchises of all-time. We have given you the Top 50 Charlotte Hornets and Baltimore Ravens. It is now time for our first NHL franchise, the Original Six franchise, The Boston Bruins.
Note that while the NHL season is under way, this list reflects accomplishments up until the end of the 2014-15 Season.
This list, and all hockey lists are based on traditional metrics, advanced metrics, length of service, popularity and post season performance and accolades.
The complete list can be found here, but for those who are curious immediately as to who the top five are, we’ll grant that immediately:
1. Bobby Orr.
2. Eddie Shore.
3. Ray Bourque.
4. Phil Esposito.

Justin Tuck Retires

Oakland Raiders Defensive End, Justin Tuck has announced his retirement from the National Football League after an eleven year career.
Tuck was drafted in the third round by the New York Giants out of Notre Dame in 2005 and was a large part of the Giants Super Bowl wins in XLII and XLVI. Tuck was a Pro Bowl selection in 2008 and 2010 and holds the distinction of being the only player to record multiple Quarterback Sacks in multiple Super Bowls.
Tuck would sign with the Oakland Raiders in 2014, but would be forced to sit out 2015 due to injury. He retires with 66.5 Quarterback Sacks, 510 Tackles and 22 Forced Fumbles.
While he is not likely to earn a place in Canton, he has solidified a strong place in the history of the New York Giants.
