We have been a little late with our official announcement on this but our Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is ready to work on the Class of 2018!

If you haven’t noticed already, Wyld Stallyns and Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem were chosen for the Class of 2017.

If we are to believe fictional rock and roll history, Wyld Stallyns (from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) created music that brought peace throughout the universe. If that is true, then this is a group that should have been inducted immediately!

Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem were the house band for the Muppets on their eponymously named show and have appeared in all of their later movies and programs since. More notably, they actually appeared last year in a live performance at a music festival in California.

With the induction of these two acts, voting has commenced on our 2018 Class, which you can all vote for here.

While we don’t rank those who are not in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, it has always been an institution that we have had respect for and report on whenever they have a major announcement. It doesn’t get any bigger for them then when they have chosen a new class!

The 2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame Class consists of John Mellencamp, Alan Jackson, Bill Anderson, Jermaine Dupri, Steve Dorff, Allee Willis and the members of Kool & The Gang.

For many (and essentially us) the headliner is John Mellencamp, who is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A legend of the heartland rock scene, Mellencamp had ten top ten hits including a number one with “Jack and Diane”. He also had a number one album (American Fool) in 1982.

Alan Jackson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame last year. The native of Georgia had 38 songs reach the top five on the Country & Western chart. “Whisperin” Bill Anderson, who is also a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee (2001) had seven songs go to number one and wrote many hits for other Country musicians. Steve Dorff wrote hits for Eddie Rabitt and George Strait and others and was also successful in writing television shows.

R&B mogul Jermaine Dupri wrote or co-wrote many hits for Usher, Mariah Carey and many others. Allee Wills collaborated with Earth Wind & Fire and the Pointer Sisters among others in the R&B field. The members of Kool & the Gang who are inducted are Robert “Kool” bell, Ronald Bell, George Brown and James “JT” Taylor.

The official induction ceremony will take place on June 14.

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate the newest members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class.

Only a few days ago the Cleveland Indians announced that the controversial “Chief Wahoo” will be stricken from the uniform from the 2019 season on. Jim Thome is making sure that it won’t be making another appearance permanently in Cooperstown.

Thome, who was inducted in his first attempt and will go in as an Indian is requesting that the “C” will adorn his cap. While the final decision on the hat on the plaque lies with Cooperstown there is no reason to think that there should be an issue. There are fourteen Hall of Famers who went in as Indians and only one (Early Wynn) has Chief Wahoo on the hat. The rest have no logo or a varying version of the “C”.

As for why Thome made this decision he had this to say:

"I know my decision would be to wear the 'C' because I think it's the right thing to do, I think I need to have a conversation with the Hall of Fame because of all the history and everything involved. I just think that's the right thing to do." 

From our point of view, we applaud the decision of Thome and are again congratulating him on entering the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced the latest class and may of those that pundits pegged to be selected will soon receive a new blazer for their closet and their likeness in Canton.

Let’s take a look at those who were chosen:

While this is not the headliner for most for Notinhalloffame.com we are most thrilled by the selection of Senior Candidate, Jerry Kramer. Kramer had been the only member of the NFL 50th Anniversary Team not be to enshrined and this injustice ended today. Kramer was a two time Super Bowl Champion and five time NFL Champion with the Green Bay Packers

Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher were selected both on their first ballot. Lewis was as close to a slam dunk cinch as you could get as he was a former two time Defensive Player of the Year and two time Super Bowl Champion with the Baltimore Ravens. The Linebacker was also a seven time First Team All Pro.

Urlacher spent his entire career with the Chicago Bears where he was a five time First Team All Pro. He was the 2005 AP Defensive Payer of the Year.

Brian Dawkins (Weapon X) was also chosen. The Safety was a sixteen year veteran predominantly playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and was a four time First Team All Pro and nine time Pro Bowl Selection.

Rounding out the defensive side of the ledger is Robert Brazile, A.K.A., “Dr. Doom”. Brazile went to seven Pro Bowls in a career spent only with the Houston Oilers.

Two Wide Receivers were chosen in Randy Moss and Terrell Owens, the two most dynamic and controversial players in that position of their era. Moss gets in on his first ballot while Owens, who actually has better career statistics was made to wait until the third. It is difficult to think that having T.O. wait was not a message.

The final inductee is former executive, Bobby Beathard.

Those who were not selected were Tony Boselli, Isaac Bruce, Alan Faneca, Steve Hutchinson, Joe Jacoby, Edgerrin James, Ty Law, John Lynch, Kevin Mawae and Everson Walls.
