Regular visitors of notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB. Once that is done, we will examine how each team honors its past players, coaches, and executives. We will eventually extend that to the major universities, and thus it is important to us that Virginia Tech has announced that seven new members will be inducted into their franchise Hall of Fame on October 3 and will be recognized the day before during the Hokies’ home game against Pittsburgh.

Jerry Cheynet: Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Wrestling, Men’s Golf and the Facility Department.  1974-2025.  Cheynet coached four different teams, most notably with the Men’s Soccer team, where he was their Head Coach from 1974 to 2001, and the Men’s Wrestling Team from 1974 to 1996.  He won Conference Coach of the Year honors in both disciplines.  He worked in the Facilities Department from 2003 to 2025 after his coaching career ended.

Chris Martin: Men’s Wrestling, 1996-2001.  Martin had an overall 126-25 record and was the third wrestler in program history to become an All-American.  Martin finished fourth in 2000 at the NCAA Championship at 165 pounds.

Kylie McGoldrick: Softball, 2012-15.  Playing at Second Base, McGoldrick played in 230 games while batting .318 with 30 Home Runs and 128 RBIs.  She was a three-time All-ACC and three-time All-ACC Tournament Selection.

Yavgeniy Olhovsky: Men’s Track & Field, 2007-10.  Olhovsky won Silver in the 2008 NCAA Outdoor and 2009 Indoor meets and was a three-time ACC Champion in the Pole Vault.

Martina Schultze: Women’s Track & Field, 2012-14.  Schultze was a five-time ACC Champion in the Pole Vault and was a six-time All-American.  On the NCAA stage, Schultze’s best finish was third in the 2014 Outdoor Championships.

Logan Thomas: Football, 2009-13.  Thomas threw for 9,003 Yards and 52 Touchdowns for Virginia Tech, while rushing for 1,359 Yards and 24 TDs; in 2011, he led the Hokies to an ACC Championship and Sugar Bowl appearance.  He would play eight years in the NFL and convert to Tight End, with appearances for Arizona, Buffalo, Detroit, and Washington.

Murielle Tiernan: Women’s Soccer, 2013-16.  In all three of her seasons in Blacksburg, Tiernan took Virginia Tech to the NCAA Tournament.  She remains the program’s all-time leader in Goals (49), Game-Winning Goals (23), and Points (112).

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate the impending members of the Virginia Tech Athletic Hall of Fame.

Blackjack has remained one of the most recognizable casino table games for generations because of its simple rules and lasting appeal. New players often find it approachable, while experienced players appreciate the depth that develops with each hand. Unlike many table games with complex mechanics, blackjack introduces its core concepts within only a few rounds.

The game's long history has helped maintain its global popularity. It has appeared in books, television shows, films, and popular culture, reinforcing its connection to the classic casino experience. Over time, blackjack has adapted to changing preferences while preserving the qualities that made it successful.

Easy to Learn Yet Full of Meaningful Decisions

One of blackjack's greatest strengths is that the basic objective can be understood very quickly. Players aim to build a hand that comes as close as possible to 21 without going over, creating a clear goal from the start. Even beginners trying blackjack betting online for the first time can get the mechanics right away just by watching a few games or learning the basics of the game. This simplicity lowers the barrier to entry while keeping every hand engaging.

Although the rules are straightforward, each decision carries weight throughout the game. Choosing whether to hit, stand, split, or double down keeps players engaged throughout each hand. Every new card changes the situation and encourages careful consideration of the available options. That balance between simplicity and thoughtful choices is one of the reasons blackjack has remained so highly regarded.

A Game That Rewards Observation and Consistency

Blackjack encourages players to pay close attention to both their own cards and the dealer's visible card. Careful observation allows participants to make informed decisions based on the current situation rather than relying on chance alone. Each round offers a new opportunity to apply the same core principles in different situations. This creates a dynamic experience while keeping the game easy to follow.

Consistency also plays an important role in how many people approach the game over time. Learning common strategies and applying them steadily helps create a structured approach during each session. As familiarity grows, players often become more confident in recognizing situations that call for specific actions. This sense of steady improvement keeps blackjack interesting even after many hours of play.

Universal Appeal Across Different Settings

Blackjack can be found in luxury casino resorts, neighborhood entertainment venues, cruise ships, and digital platforms across the world. Its broad availability makes blackjack one of the most accessible table games for players worldwide. Familiar rules allow visitors to move between different venues without needing to relearn the game. That consistency strengthens blackjack's international reputation.

The game's welcoming nature also appeals to people with different levels of experience. Casual visitors appreciate its straightforward pace, while seasoned players enjoy refining their approach through repeated play. Tables are often available with a variety of participation levels, making blackjack accessible to many different audiences. This flexibility has helped preserve its popularity across changing generations. The combination of familiarity and adaptability allows blackjack to remain a staple in both traditional and modern gaming environments. As new platforms continue to develop, the game continues reaching audiences who may never visit a physical casino.

Strong Social Interaction Around the Table

Blackjack naturally encourages conversation among everyone seated at the table. Players often celebrate fortunate hands together while discussing memorable moments that unfold during each round. Friendly interactions create an enjoyable atmosphere that extends beyond the cards themselves. These shared experiences frequently become lasting memories for visitors.

The relationship between the dealer and players also contributes to the welcoming environment. Dealers guide the action, explain procedures, and maintain a comfortable pace for everyone involved. Clear communication helps newcomers understand the game without feeling overwhelmed. This combination of structure and social interaction gives blackjack a distinctive character compared with many other table games.

Enduring Popularity for Future Generations

Despite the introduction of countless new casino attractions, blackjack continues to hold a special place among classic table games. Its recognizable rules, engaging decisions, and familiar format have allowed it to remain relevant year after year. Both traditional tables and modern digital versions preserve the essential experience that has attracted players for decades. That continuity reinforces blackjack's reputation as one of the industry's defining games.

As entertainment preferences continue to evolve, blackjack remains a dependable favorite because it combines accessibility with lasting depth. The game welcomes first-time participants while offering enough variety to keep experienced players interested over the long term. Its rich history and timeless design ensure that it continues to be introduced to new audiences around the world. For these reasons, blackjack remains the most iconic casino table game and is likely to retain that distinction for many years to come.

1998 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS:

Thank you for your participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are unaware of what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946.

We have completed the years up to 1997.

For “1998,” a Preliminary Vote with nearly 100 players whose playing career ended by 1992. We also follow the structure in which players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool.

Each voter was asked to select 25 names from the preliminary list, and the top 25 vote-getters were named Semi-Finalists.

A week later, the voters were asked to pick 15 names from the 25 Semi-Finalists, and next week, they will choose five from the remaining 15. We will continue this process every week until we catch up to the current year.

31 votes were cast, with the top 15 advancing.

We will post the Class of 1998 Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project next Saturday.

Thank you to all who contributed. If you want to be part of this project, please let us know!

Yes, we know that this is taking a while!

As many of you know, we at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the top 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we maintain and update our existing Top 50 lists annually.  We are pleased to present our pre-2026 revision of our top 50 Toronto Blue Jays.

As for all of our top 50 players in baseball, we look at the following:

1.  Duration and Impact.

2.  Traditional statistics and how they finished in Major League Baseball.

3.  Advanced Statistics.

4.  Playoff performance.

5. Their respective legacy on the team.

6. How successful the team was when he was there.

7. Respecting the era in which they played.

Criteria 1-4 will make up the lion’s share of the algorithm.  Please note that we have implemented this for the first time.  This has changed the rankings all throughout the board.

Last year, the Toronto Blue Jays shocked the baseball world with an unexpected run to the World Series, falling to the heavily favored Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games.  There were two new entrants and two elevations as per last year’s season.

As always, we present our top five, which saw one change based on the new algorithm.

1. Dave Stieb
2. Roy Halladay
3. Jose Bautista
4. Carlos Delgado
5. Tony Fernandez

You can find the entire list here.

Within the top five, Carlos Delgado and Tony Fernandez flipped the #4 and #5 spots.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rocketed up from #12 to #6.

Bo Bichette, who is now a New York Met, moved up from #27 to #22.

Outfielder George Springer debuted at #34.

Pitcher Kevin Gausman debuted at #35.

We thank you for your continued support of our lists on Notinhalloffame.com.
