If it is true that “You’re So Vain” is about David Geffen (Not who we thought it would be either), the only question we have left is could she be the next Singer/Songwriter in the Hall.
With selections on this list (and within the actual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself) we can hear people moan about how their just isn’t enough “real” Rock and Roll bands listed. We have a feeling that those who feel that way would have no issue if Bachman-Turner Overdrive were to find itself in the Hall.
With the legendary Bob Dylan in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Hall may think it has done its due diligence to the protest singers of the 60’s. Dylan was legendary, there is no question about that, but we have to wonder if even he thought that Phil Ochs lived the life of a protest singer far more intensely than he ever could.
A lot of Rock and Roll is image and there are examples upon examples where a carefully constructed image is what gets you noticed. Sometimes though the image you created to get you noticed is what may hold you back in the long run. On some level, Culture Club may fit this example.
