It is not exactly a sport related entry is it? Renee Zellweger pouted her way as the lone employee who followed Jerry Maguire out of his sports agency and found love in the process. Okay, our wives made us put her on the ballot.

As hard as it may be to believe, in the late 70’s one of the most respected comics was Gabe Kaplan (Mr. Kotter), and at the same time he was amongst the best athletes on television. If you don’t believe us, check out old “Battle of the Network Stars” episodes, and his athletic prowess will shock you.

In Fast Break, Kaplan assembles a rag tag (often used we know, but painfully accurate) group of players who will be his team at the fictitious (hey, perfect for us) Cadwallader University in Nevada. The film remains a cult hit, but maybe a bit of love could be shown to someone who truly loved sports and made a decent film at it. We are however assuming that you are one of the ones who watched it.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Fast Break (1993)

Actor:
Gabe Kaplan

Role Portrayed:
Head Coach of Cadawallader University

Why you should vote for him:
Just from sympathy of having to watch Vinnie Barbarino hijack his sitcom.

Why you should not vote for him:
Other than Bill Simmons, we can’t name anyone else who saw it.

Darcy Sears

We are not going to lie to you. The only reason that Darcy Sears (Ali Larter) is on the ballot is because of the whipped cream bikini. We don’t remember any of her lines, nor do we care. We know we aren’t the only ones!

Dan Rydell

Dan Rydell
Sports Night had a loyal and devoted audience, and had it aired a few years later, or appeared on a smaller channel, we would bet that this acclaimed program would have found a longer life. (yeah, we know, this is what we wrote for the Casey McCall intro)

Dan Rydell was not always the flashier of the two co-anchors, but we always thought his character arc was a little deeper. He was a lead when needed, a supporting player when asked, and overall one of the most underrated of all time; regardless of the genre.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Sports Night (1998-2000)

Actor:
Josh Charles

Role Portrayed:
Co-Anchor

Why you should vote for him:
We will run with our underrated theory.

Why you should not vote for him:
We may have watched it….we are not sure just how many others did.
