Sadie Flood

Sadie Flood
In the very good (though rarely seen) independent film, Georgia, Jennifer Jason Leigh delivers as always as the younger sister of a successful folk singer. Leigh’s character is a gritty bar singer with a bit of a Punk Rock look, and definitely with the attitude to match. The acting here is solid, and the music decent. Had this achieved a larger audience, this could have been a decent contender for our Hall of Fame.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Georgia (1995)

Actor:
Jennifer Jason Leigh

Songs you might remember:
Take Me Back

Why you should vote for her:
The acting is really strong here.

Why you should not vote for her:
The audience just isn’t that big to make this a strong contender.

Sadgasm

Sadgasm
In the revoling timeline of the Simpsons, we learn that Homer was the front man for a Grunge band named Sadgasm that was for all intents and purposes a Nirvana knock off which was evident by the songs they had. Homer’s sadness was inspired by watching his beloved Marge fall for a College Professor and he transformed his former New Jack Swing band into a mopey, flannel hand, floppy haired group.   Only in Springfield do the laws of time not work, and only there would we not care.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Simpsons (2008)

Actors:
Dan Castanaletta (Homer Simpson)

The Fictitious Band
Homer Simpson
Lenny Leonard
Carl Carlson
Lou the Cop

Songs you might remember:
Margerine
Politically Incorrect

Why you should vote for them:
We don’t have enough Nirvana parodies here.

Why you should not vote for them:
We think (and you might too) that there are better Springfield acts to choose from.

The Sacred Cows

Sacred Cows The
The Sacred Cows appeared in Get Smart where they were a part of the “Groovy Guru’s” plot to cause the youth of America to run wild. They were not exactly deep with their lyrics “kill kill kill” but they were actually written and performed by three session musicians. It was campy, but so are so many on this ballot.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Get Smart (1968)

Actors:
Jerry Scheff
John Greek
Ben Benay

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for them:
They were not that bad.

Why you should not vote for them:
It was only on one episode, and is far from the most remembered think from the show.

Ruttling Orange Peel

Ruttling Orange Peel
According to the Mockumentary, “All You Need is Cash”, The Rutles were inspired by Mississippi Blues Man, Ruttling Orange Peel; at least so he says. Of course, since he also claims that Lawrence Welk, Frank Sinatra and the Everly Brothers also ripped him off, perhaps we can only take his claims so far.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
All You Need is Cash (1978)

Actor:
Bob Gibson

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for him:
Look who he inspired!

Why you should not vote for him:
This was a small role, and inspiring Lawrence Welk is nothing to be proud of.
