For the bulk of his twenty years plus in the ring, Murdoch was at his best in tag team competition where he won regional and national titles everywhere he went. He still was a viable solo competitor but he his star shone brighter in duos. Although Murdoch was a good promo man, he wasn’t necessarily a great one and this may have held him back from reaching more main events. Subsequently, he looked more like a tough bar fighter than a wrestler and this may have held back his star quotient.
As a man who competed mostly in NWA sanctioned promotions, he still was in the WWF long enough to capture the World Tag Title with Adrian Adonis. This may be his ace in the hole for those internally in the WWE who may be on the fence in regards to Dick Murdoch.
