Do we have to explain this one?  Say what you want about Vince McMahon but NOBODY can ever dispute that Vince is the WWE.  He is the reason that many of you watch professional wrestling.  He is the person who changed how it was viewed and how many viewed it.  He is a larger than life personality. While we don't condone every decision he has made, Vince's vision of a global wrestling empire came true, as did the creation of a Hall of Fame.  In some cases, those who founded a Hall of Fame really have no business being in it as a member. This is not one of those cases.

When The Rock called himself the most electrifying man in sports entertainment he wasn’t kidding. There has been no wrestler before or after who was could captivate an audience like he could. The amount of wrestlers who have tried to segue over into Hollywood is long but only Dwayne Johnson became a megastar in that medium. Vince McMahon has often been quoted that he was not in the wrestling business but that he was in the entertainment business. It seems that no past employee of Vince ever personified that statement better than the Rock.

A quick way to get heel heat in the world of Professional Wrestling is to declare your hatred for the United Sates and take on the persona of one of their enemies. More often than not, these performers were not from those countries, but back in the 70’s and 80’s had you told anyone that Ivan Koloff was not really a Russian, it would be hard to find anyone to believe you.

Only in Professional Wrestling could the most known German competitor not actually be German.  Many wrestlers cashed in on the image of the evil Nazi that still resonated from the Second World War, but only James Raschke drew money with it, which was quite ironic considering his All American background.

Don Leo Jonathan may have been born and raised in Utah but it was in Canada that he found his home.  Jonathan’s size and wrestling acumen allowed him to become a true international superstar and he traveled the world winning titles and headlining cards.  As mentioned he was most comfortable in Canada and it was for the NWA in Vancouver that he truly cemented his star and faced all comers.  Don Leo Jonathan took on Jean Ferre (Andre the Giant) in a legendary match in Montreal and though that did not take place under a WWE banner, it has been referenced to by the WWE.  He may never have been a WWE star, but he was one of the best big men of all time.

48. Karl Gotch http://www.notinhalloffame.com/wwe/1344-98-karl-gotch http://www.notinhalloffame.com/wwe/1344-98-karl-gotch 48. Karl Gotch
A legitimate amateur wrestler and all around tough guy, Karl Gotch was one half of the WWWF World Tag Team Champions with Rene Goulet back in 1971.  Gotch’s style struggled to make him a star in America, but it translated well in Japan where his mat based style of wrestling made him popular.  Gotch was a huge influence on later Japanese wrestlers and trained many who became early shoot wrestlers in Japan.  It can be argued that his style was one of the precursors to Mixed Martial Arts and he may actually be a better fit for an MMA Hall of Fame as opposed to a WWE one.  Either the way man called by some as “The God of Japanese Wrestling” deserves enshrinement somewhere.

Mitsuharu Misawa http://www.notinhalloffame.com/wwe/1604-70-mitsuharu-misawa http://www.notinhalloffame.com/wwe/1604-70-mitsuharu-misawa This one was actually our hardest to rank.  Mitsuharu Misawa has been called by many to be the best wrestler that Japanese wrestler of his time; which is saying a lot!  The problem is that he never set foot in a WWE ring, nor had he real exposure to North America, which has to be considered a factor for a North American based Hall of Fame.]]> [email protected] (Site Admin) WWE Sat, 10 Jan 2015 13:19:00 +0000 50. Edouard Carpentier http://www.notinhalloffame.com/wwe/3107-edouard-carpentier http://www.notinhalloffame.com/wwe/3107-edouard-carpentier 50. Edouard Carpentier
Although he would receive mention on WWF and WWE broadcasts through the years for his innovation and popularity, Edouard Carpentier never has seemed to be a serious contender for the WWE Hall of Fame. Carpentier won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1957, though the falling out with his promoter and the NWA led to a splintering of the championship.
